I am considering adding this full K&N system to my 2007 Ford F-150. Thoughts, opinions? I like the idea, however I am concerned mainly about increased intake noise. I like this on my bike, but not so much for my 4-wheel transportation. I know exhaust systems have a freeway droning that drives me nuts.

I have a Volant on my 05 dodge ram. You don't really hear it. But it didn't help the power or mpg on a noticeable level.

A friend of mine has an aftermarket intake in his Mitsubishi Lancer. AEM brand I think? It makes quite a "vroom" under brisk acceleration.

The K&N system for your Ford might work differently though.

First off...I hate you. I sold my baby a year ago and it was the dumbest thing I've ever done.

I had a K&N on it. I felt an improvement. Sounded nice too.

I miss her....

Reasonable noise under acceleration is okay. A constant noise (aka drone) at steady MPH is not. Thanks for the comments.

I like the low end gains more so than the advertised gain of 15+HP at 3,829 RPM. I don't spend alot of time over 3,000 to 3,500 RPM normally...That's what my 1125r is for!

Hey guys, I decided to pull the trigger on this, figuring that at worst I can put the old system back on if the K&N system doesn't pan out.

One question for you engine wizards. There is a crankcase breather line that runs from the crankcase (surprise!) to the intake assembly. I pulled the the stock hose and it looks like little to no oil is being sent back into the intake.

Anyone see a problem, mechanical or otherwise, with ditching the hose and putting a K&N breather filter directly onto the crankcase exit port? Will this trigger the check engine light?

I know I could have some oil leaking into the engine compartment, but there is evidence that this breather line is not being used by the engine. I'll take my chances if this doesn't cause a mechanical or CEL issue.

Fresno,

Just installed the K&N on my new F-150. Love it! Noticeable improvement on acceleration. I only switched out the element and did not put the cold air box. One of our employees has a cold air kit on his Firebird and installed it "after" first buying just the filter. Said he didn't notice as much with adding the box as he did switching the filter.
