This is my first posting on Badweb after reading it regularly since I bought my M-2L last year. I have found the information available here to be invaluable. Since I live on an island with no dealers within a thousand miles, I have to take care of my own maintenance.
I am only 5'5" and find the stock bars a stretch to reach comfortably. want to be able to move the handlebars back a little further without hitting the tank.
1) Will the S-3 bars allow me to do this?
2) Would they require S-3 cables on the M-2?
3) Does anyone have a spare set of S-3 bars to sell?
4) Any other alternatives?

1) They will be "a bit" more comfortable, but you can't bring them back alot cause the controls will marr up your tank when you turn the handlebars all the way

2)You shouldn't need S-3 cables (I "think" they are the same anyways) Only thing you might have to do, if you have a tack, is to cut a notch in the instrument cluster for the clutch cable. Take the metal guide off the cable too.

3)S-3, and Blast handlebars are the same part# ;)

4)Grow longer arms? :D

Yep the S3 bars will bolt right up while using your stock cables.

I see in your profile that you have S-3T bars on your M-2L. Are they the bars that I need?

Martin, I have S3-T bars on my 2000 M2. Make sure you get the newer bars. There's a slight difference between the early('97-'98) and later bars. When Buell upgraded the switches in '99 they changed the locating holes for the switch housings. The cables are the same. Try them, you'll like them.

Martin2,I have a set of S3T bars.

They're an 1-1/2" taller than the S3 bars.

You pay the freight and such and they're yours.

Eisenman

Thanks for the generous offer. If they are the later model bars referred to by Crusty in the last post, I'll take you up on it.

Eisanmann,

Sorry I misspelled your name. I caught the mistake later. I'll send you an Email to make arrangements.

Seeu911,

I'm glad to know that there is someone else on this site who knows ST. Croix. I'll send an Email to you too. I have a sister in Northport and may get up there some day.

Martin2-
I've got a set of S3 bars on my '99 M2 and I love'em. So much more comfortable on the longer rides and not so much wrist strain. Try it, you'll like it. ck

Martin2,

I've got S3T bars on my 99 Cyclone and love them. Had a little problem getting the correct clutch cable routing but with some fiddling everything fits fine.
