This could be the shortest thread in Badweb history.

Yes, I'm bored.

One of my favorites:

From 1968 (Republican): "Nixon's the one!"

From 1972 (Democratic): "Nixon was the one in 68, he'll be a bigger one in 72"

(72 was the first election in which I voted)

Before I was old enough to vote, I remember a bumper sticker
"Au H20"

translated = Goldwater

Slaughter, I think you and I must be about the same age.

i am (again) running for President of the Madison Area Radio Control Car Association. (MARCCA) it is a position that i have held for 12 of the last 15 years. i was V.P. the other three years. i raced with the club for five years prior to taking on any administrative duties, and even talked my wife into becoming treasurer for the club.

my opponent has been racing on-and-off (mostly off) for four years. the totality of his experience consists of TWO work parties, and ONE board of directors meeting. he claims he was Race Director ONE raceday, but nobody else seems to remember it. he has missed two work parties and two board meetings since throwing his hat in the ring, and has announced he will also miss the next three weeks of racing, and at least one more meeting.

he has stated over and over that MARCCA needs "change" and if elected Pres, he will promote MARCCA by going around to all the other tracks in the area, and racing. (he has been doing just exactly that for the whole summer, without result.) he claims access to a "better" spot to race outdoors, but only if he's elected, and with no info on what makes it "better" than where we are now.

i, on the other hand, haven't raced anywhere but MARCCA for the last five years, and end up in the booth, directing, more often than in the pits, racing. i set up both our current locations, indoor and outdoor, and got us such a sweet deal on our indoor rent, that i promised the landlord i would not disclose the amount to anyone outside the club. i am about to begin negotiations with several area townships to obtain some public-use land for the outdoor track, (similar to the R/C airfield in Verona) in an effort to reduce our insurance costs.

his campaign: "change"

my campaign: "______"

i have not said a word to campaign, or made a single promise, since accepting the nomination.

with about 3/4 of the votes in, it looks like a landslide.

so, my favorite campaign slogan is: "_____".

I'm not sure if this saying fits in this thread but I felt like sharing it.
All that is necessary for the triumph
of evil is that good men do nothing.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Best regards-Lesley

The bumper sticker for Barry Goldwater was AuH2O64 He ran against LBJ that year. My friend's father turned the 6 around to read AuH2O94.

*****************************

Another favorite of mine is:
"You can believe me, because I'm always right; and I never lie."

My Aunt had a campaign slogan for High School President, I'm sure back in the 60's which was,

"Don't be a Goose, vote for Frus."
