About how much coin will I spend to get a water pump replaced on a 2001 Dodge Durango with a 5.9 (360)

www.rockauto.com has them from $40 to $60. Not bad if you do it yourself. To pay someone else I guess would add about $200

Pumps are cheap for the ol' LA motor - they made billions of 'em back in the day (BTW, it's a 5.9 if it's a 360 - the 5.7 is the new Hemi size).

Pull fan shroud off radiator for room to work.
Drain radiator.
Loosen belt adjuster, remove pulley off water pump (and fan, if attached to pulley as opposed to electric).
Remove hoses from pump (good time to replace 'em)
Remove (I think) 5 or 6 waterpump bolts.
Remove pump, scrape gaskets, installation is the reverse.

I love small block Mopars, I get so many questions about my old '68 Dodge, & people frequently say "Oh but what do you do for parts, they must be hard to get & terribly expensive"
I just grin & say no, they'll be cheaper than any Euro or Jap you can buy here & they're off the shelf still in the US, post to my house 2-5 days is often faster than parts for cars that are still being built here.

? Just go to your local Pep Boys, Autozone, etc, grab a pump and return your old one for the core $.
Simple job, too.

Tip, wear old gloves with the finger ends cut off, to save your knuckles on the radiator fins.

Or slide a piece of cardboard down the face of the radiator. Keeps me from punching bolts or ratchet heads through the fins : )

...one of these days, I need to get my 12-second 360 '72 Satellite wagon back on the road....I miss sitting on a radiator, with a foot on each valve cover, working on an engine.
