On HDForums.com it's said $10,800 vivid black & $11079 denim pearl.

Makes buell sound better. too close in price.

Denim and Pearl are two different finishes, and where the hell is my Mirage Orange. I will cede that it is another forum board, and there is nothing on HD-Net yet, so I wont get too nit picky; yet.

It didn't list available colors, only that denim and pearl finishes are $11079.

They're available in Oz now for a little less than an 1125R, about the same money as an XB12R.

But the pipe covers are soooo tacky.

xr

Anybody noticed the belt tensioning system like a Buell...

If you remove the pipe covers you find a relatively decent stainless steel pipe underneath. A couple of hours getting rid of blobs of weld and with a polishing mop works wonders and makes the pipes look so much better : ) We retained the stock header pipes on our XR1200 but junked the rest of the system, mufflers and the Cat, which between them weighed more than 15kg!
Does anyone know if the US bikes will have the same exhaust as the current Euro models? This has the Cat welded in place where the two headers join and is only really visible with the exhaust heat shields removed.

You can see the stock pipes here with the heat shields and muflers removed, and this clearly shows the Cat in the middle of the pipes.

These are the same header pipes after polishing, with the Cat removed and a new 2-1 section and muffler made up : )

Other people have managed to cut out the cat and make up some 2-2 link pipes and attach a couple of Supertrapp pipes to the stock headers like this:

The belt tensioner is fixed to the frame, and is a little more basic than the Buell setup although they share the same idler wheel assembly. We (and other customers) have found that the tensioner has quite an impact on restricting rear suspension movement. I don't know where they spent a year testing this bike, but it must have been very smooth roads for them not to have noticed this. Anything resembling a bumpy road results in some serious rear suspension issues (pearticularly with the stock suspension units, which are useless anyway. Why does H-D think 'Hard'='Sporty'?).

Even with some good aftermarket rear shocks such as the Bitubo units we have, the belt tension is noticeably restricting suspension movement, and is something that needs some looking at soon I think. We have slackened the belt tension quite a lot on our bike to give the suspension an easier time, and there don't seem to be any noticeable issues in the few miles I have done since.

The standard pipes underneath look a lot nicer, especially polished. Your 2-1 looks neat and stylish. I can understand the covers are to make the pipes look bigger and chunkier, but they look awful up close, and the ones on the new V-Rod Muscle I saw are just as tacky.

Hmmm... So is having the tensioner on the XR an improvement?

Confirmed today that my dealership will be getting at least one.

Of course the sales manager doesn't think it will sell

I've always liked the XR750 Tracker styling. But IMO, 10 grand is a lot of cash for a bike that is for the most part inferior to any, current model Buell, (except the Blast) in all respects, except for styling.

Even if you were to drop 5Gs into suspension and engine mods, it's likely a showroom stock Buell would spank it, any where, any time...

We are getting 'one'. So the debate continues, buy the new one, and have to spend 4k additional on it to make it anywhere close to Buell, or spend 6k on the bike I already have.... That 2003 XL Street Tracker idea is looking better by the moment.
Build list recipe
Take 1 2003 XL883R
Add Black Inverted Forks
Black Buell XB Wheels
Sticky Pirelli tires
Dirt Track body work kit
Drop 45 lbs from the equation
New obnoxious Storz / Bub pipes
Buell Thunderstorm 1203 upgrade
Add some ORANGE paint
Go HD hunting
