Bomber...Mike's on the right track! Ministerial tax deductions are even more lucrative than Amway or any other Pyramid Scheme. All you need to do is intertwine any religious comment into every conversation and you can write the activity off.

Yep, something as simple as "Bless you" as you collect your change at the gas station will save you thousands per year! Put a dead fish decal on the back of your car and you can write that off too.

Why do you think there are more street corner churches than gas stations in California? Yep, Religion pays well!!! Just don't ask me how I know online.

Hey, just claim it is for Medicinal Purposes and you will be out with a slap on the wrist. Tell them you are a Native American and those Peyote Buttons are a part of a religious event and you won't be hassled at all.

See, I told you Religion Pays Well!!!

like everything on badweb... it starts out one place (me selling my bike) and ends up in some other totally bizarre and twisted little corner of our minds (bomber's pagan-buelligan church-of-misfits)... although it is hearty entertainment...

I think that second one is right up Jerry/Blastin's avenue, or at least close enough to get a competing job offer bid to negotiate locally with (even though that tactic sometimes backfires and I haven't tried it in over 20 years now, never make a bluff you're not willing to pay for if called on it).

Actually it does snow in Houston... can't recall the exact year 1989 or 1990, maybe? Houston had a white Christmas. I was there...damndest thing...a real cold spell and all the pipes burst. They aren't exactly well insulated in South Texas. Many of the below ground parking garages were flooded or iced over. A very weird time.

How are you with humidity? I'm an Arkie and the summer I lived there almost killed me.

So am I only south Arkansas (until recently lived there 34 years), and that makes us excellent folks, not to mention 1960 was a good year, and good choice of bikes too !!!

Brad, I think it was '89. We had a hard freeze that lasted for days, there may have been some snow, but if I tried to call it snow on this board, the real snow-bunnies from up north of I-10 would just laugh at me!

Humidity's fine with me, it keeps my gills soft & supple!

Hey, don't knock us oil industry robber barons in a forum dedicated to internal-combustion powered toys! If I weren't out there raping and pillaging Mother Earth, we'd all be on here arguing what kind of derailleurs work best on our mountain bikes!

Besides, Char, you know I'm just kiddin' witchya...

And Nev, you may be the first person to ever give me credit for having too much sense for anything; nonetheless, in this case, you are correct, sir!

It's been a slow day in the oil patch. No spills, no blowouts, no hostile takeovers. Maybe I'll go into the environmental remediation business...you know, atone for past sins and all that...

Thang...Keep drillin' for that dinosaur juice. Just make sure the holes are deep enough that we use up everyone else's before we tap our supply. Unlike some recent idiot in the White House did to help get his Flunkie elected all in the name of social welfare and domestic economic aid.

Kinda reminds you of how Uncle Adolph lost the war, eh? Plus, it gives new tech time to develop safely. Come to think of it, the Hindenburg wasn't so safe, eh? Yet it was supposed to be the hi tech luxury liner of the skies. Then again, so was the Spruce Goose.

Bomber...Not only do we know no other way! (Love those double negatives) It is the same thing the younger generations think. Difference is they look like a bunch of wannabe gang bangers and don't know the sly treacherous tricks we picked up along the way.

The really fun part is a few years back we were their heroes and now they realize their heroes are the same age as their parents. Disrespectful little twits. Like Bill Cosby said, "I brought you into this world and I can take you out!"

As often said, Pillage FIRST!, then rape, Burn LAST!

Darn kids, us old vikings gotta teach 'em everything.

Arlo's "Motorcycle Song" has always been a favorite. One of the few I know all the lyrics to.

Charlotte, I'd say follow your bliss, but sometimes you have to make hard choices. ( psst...keep the bike)

I have to admit... somewhere between the corporate slut, oil industry robber barons, pagans, middle aged white guys, the raping and pillaging, and Arlo Guthrie even my esoteric butt got lost

Regarding the life choice.... don't know ya, but it seems like you might want to consider a track that would lead you to a teaching position. The pay wouldn't be quite as good as working in the private sector, but I'm picking up some resentment toward the industries that would be most likely to hire someone with your skills. Another option would be some sort of activist organization, but their funding will be sporadic and your position would be unstable. The government is the other option, but it has a way of making even the most dedicated people cynical.

College communities and usually pretty nice places to live and there would always be a reservoir of like minded people around, reinforcing your enthusiasm and providing endless dating possibilities (the important stuff).

Fast forward to the future....

As Professor Whatever pulls into her assigned parking space outside the Environmental Sciences Building and removes her helmet, she is surrounded by curious and nubile first year students enthralled with the exotic motorcycle she is riding. She explains that it is a Buell...a classic American made bike sporting the new V-twin fuel cell engine that Professor Whatever and a retired oil and gas exploration executive from Houston designed.

She explains to the awe struck freshmen that she almost sold the bike to fund her graduate studies, but was talked out of it by this strange guy on an internet forum. She told them that he had this uncanny ability to see the future and new that her bike was not only a key element in determining her uniqueness, but would provide both the inspiration and platform for her Nobel Prize winning efforts in engine design.

Her black book filled with the phone and dorm room numbers of students wishing to share a pizza, beer, and a ride on her Buell, the Professor gathered her portfolio brief case and as she reached the top of the concrete steps of the Road Thing Environmental Science Center, she paused and reflected...

Jesus...that WAS a really weird thread, but I'm sure glad I listened to those folks on that crazy BadWeb...

Happy Ho Ho, Ya'll
