Greetings all. It's been said there are no stupid questions, but I'll do my best to prove that wrong:
Yesterday, I watched a salesperson press the starter button w/out disengaging the clutch, and the bike (an '09 XB12XT that was apparently in gear) lurched forward. I didn't give it much thought at the time, but later wondered if Buells have a safety interlock to prevent this, and it wasn't working on this bike.
Probably wouldn't have thought twice, but salesperson said the bike had required additional parts (not specified) before being ready to put on the showroom floor.
If in fact there's no such safety interlock, all the better. Fewer potential points of failure.

Yep, no clutch switch and no kick stand switch on the bikes. I started mine in gear for the first time this year accidentally, my pants must of caught the shifter as i dismounted. The bike didn't move much, so nothing bad happened: )

It was probably the windshield recall . And yes, the first time one bucks on you, you will remember to always grab that damn clutch.
