Same for eastern:

Which is not, by any means, to preclude the possibility that they have these old irons, but it does shed some light on why they do.

Tramp, I may have got your hopes up for nothing.
It may be a S3. I am looking at my cell phone pics and the x1 is blocking most of the S. All I can see is the front of the bike.
If you call them, let me know what you find out.

No bigs- if it has clipons, it's an S2, if it has a conventional handlebar clamping arrangement, it's an S3.

>>>but the S2 is really a find,

That's am accurate statement. The S2 will be more historically significant than many currently realize.

I can't imagine anyone buying them when you can get a nearly mint version or either for around $4,000. Plus the "used" one probably has tires and seals that aren't all dried up from just sitting there. If you aren't a totally committed Buell fan, they are probably worth less than a "new" sportster of the same year.

Those time-capsule tubers have long ago turned into used bikes with really low miles.

I would have a hard time throwing down that money when a brand new 1125R is going out the door for several thousand dollars less.

I bet they will be owning those bikes for at least 10 more years unless they cut the price in half.

When I bought my 96 S2 used from a dealer in around 2004 maybe, it had just under 2500 miles and I paid $5000.

A few years back when you had to be on a list to buy a new HD you could always go to Louisville and buy one off the floor. BUT you were going to pay through the nose because they were well over MSRP. It was either get on a list in Lexington and wait, buy used, or pay more in Louisville. If it's still the same way they want more than MSRP although I haven't been there in years. It is neat nonetheless to hear about a eight+ year old bike new on the floor.
