Against all odds, Ann Hare has done the impossible!
She has managed to stay sane and sound after being married to me for 17 years.
Thank you Mrs. Hare!
I love you!

My, my...what a loooong strange trip it's been!

Thanks to all for the congrats!

I really couldn't think of anyone else I would have wanted to grow up with other than G. (And he's such a fool in love after all this time...he thinks I'M sane!)

Through all life's ups and downs, I have many blessings to count and be thankful for each and every day. He's my best friend, the most wicked awesome dad in the world, my rock & my protector. He keeps me real, keeps me honest and keeps me focused.

Yeah, Brumbear, staying power is what it's truly all about. You know you're a "lifer" when you get so pissed off & frustrated that you're ready just to throw in the towel and then you realize, you can't figure out how in the world you would do it without the other one. That's when you just gotta take that deep breath, bite your lip and simmer down. There's too many disposable marriages out there nowadays.

So, newlyweds and not so long married ones out there - don't sweat the small stuff, there are enough big things to worry about. Cherish and be thankful for even the teeny tiny things that make you happy. Time goes a lot quicker than you ever think it will, so make the most of this minute that you're in right now.

Ok, so that got a lot deeper than I was planning, but cut me some slack...we just got back from Senior night celebration for Colin & tomorrow is my 17th wedding anniversary - I'm just feeling a little mushy right now.

Awesome.

Somehow it has always seemed a little odd to me, congratulating people on an anniversary, as if it had been hard work. As if it had been something that had to be achieved.

I know life has many ups and downs, and it's not all easy, but to me, the one thing that is, is coming home to my gorgeous guy at the end of every day. It makes the rest all worthwhile.
Together we have a looong way to go to catch up the years you guys have all notched up, but it is something I look forward to very much.

So, I won't say the word 'congratulations', but I will say...'that's awesome, I'm really happy for you, and wish you both very many wonderful years ahead together'.

Very well said Ann. Carlos and I have been together for 24 years, married 19 of those. It's hard to imagine that you can love them more than the day you said "I do", but it happens with each passing day.

Thanks everyone!
As we rapidly move towards the day that Ann will have had my name longer than the one she had before we married, it only gets better.
V, it has been hard work, not to stay together as much as realizing that a good marriage isn't about it being a 50-50 relationship but rather a 100-100 relationship. Through the ups and downs, the hard times and the easy times, watching our kids get to the age we were when we met, all of it. Knowing she'll be there when I need her, knowing she'll be there when I don't, does make it easier, so yeah, I get your meaning after all!
Thanks for all the kind words!
Jay, what you said may mean more to me than you think.

I believe you are to be congratulated and I am now doing so!

Sandy has somehow tolerated me for 21 1/2 years (so far). AARP is knocking, our youngest child is about to turn 18, and we are truly enjoying the plans we have for our future. As we realized when he has been gone over night at times, we will finally be able to do things as a couple. A new beginnings of sorts.

Cheers!

Congrats you two. My wife and I are about to go 14 years. And when Mrs. Glitch said "to many disposible marriages". I knew what she was saying. Its easy to walk away and be a quiter. It takes alot of thought, love,,respect, and consideration to stay in it. Its work but well worth it.
