I followed YellowMan (you don't know him), and Torque followed me with the camera through these NorCal twisties--11 Oct 2008. 550 miles in two days, all back roads:

There may be a higher quality version here:

More to come, time permitting...

Enjoy,

Cool vid! What road were you on? Makes me want to jump on the bike and go for a ride right now, although it's cold and crappy out.

I live right up the hill from you in Newcastle. Maybe we could get together for a ride some time.

Well, I tried several attempts to paste the url of this google map (that I created from way-points on my gps), but for some reason the address has too many commas and percentage symbols for BadWeB to get you to the real map...So, here it is in picture format, you can type the numbers in yourselves if you want to make it real.

Enjoy again,
Hex

Ok, I'll help you out with the coordinates:

+40°41.533', -122°17.264'
+40°35.797', -122°29.314'
+40°33.270', -123°10.389'
+40°28.097', -123°47.969'
+40°18.256', -124°03.748'
+40°34.567', -124°15.988'
+40°48.249', -124°09.495'
+40°56.348', -123°37.775'
+41°11.220', -123°42.202'
+41°22.870', -123°29.304'
+41°15.459', -123°19.420'
+41°08.461', -123°08.428'
+41°13.547', -122°54.170'
+41°25.788', -122°24.838'
weed ca
+40°41.533', -122°17.264'

just cut and paste each line in google maps like this photo:

I'm not sure what you think is a problem. The map looks good to me.

Beautiful country you're rolling thru!

All these riding videos have the same effect on me - I find myself trying to get out of work early.

Tomorrow its going to be 78 deg in coastal NC

I guess that depends on what your definition of "relevant" is.

I worry a little bit about being sited post post. The low camera angle makes it look faster than it is. Just to let you all know, we were not racing. We call it "Combat Touring." We never tried to pass each other. We never took anyone too hot into a corner that we knew their skill and equipment couldn't handle. We never put our knees down. I've still got 1/4" chicken strips. Those two guys are mountain men, they know these roads and others very well. I have had a lot of track time, both road race and speedway. You may notice me pointing out a rock in the road midway through the video. We do that for each other too.

I'll look into tinyurl today and see if I can't figure that out for a perfected map. I think it is important to be able to communicate routes like this to each other, so I am working on a BadWeB solution.

Yep - those are epic roads! Did some of this same route a couple weekends ago:

Highly recommended for those in the western states.

Hex, or anyone else, how did you get the google map into a postable format.

What I need to do is post a map in a word doc....

BTW: nice video. Looks like you have a few nice roads out there.

Thanks

Hex, or anyone else, how did you get the google map into a postable format.

I just took a screen shot with my Mac (Apple,Shift,3) and then opened it in photoshop and converted it to.jpg.

On a PC it's PrtScn button to copy into the clipboard. Then you have to open a new document in photoshop, paste, edit and save as .jpg.

...uh, oh yeah, it's not copyright infringement if it is newsworthy or student work. You just can't make any money with their stuff.

Here are a couple of interesting videos (to me) that I found on YouTube. Watch them if you like, I am uploading "Buell We Ride Part 02" now and will post as soon as it is available.

Kiiking:

Part of Swiss Butoh dancer Imre Thormann's performance at Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine in Shiga (Japan) in summer 2006. The live music is by Swiss jazz pianist Nik Baertsch and his band "Mobile":

Enjoy.

Ok, Buell We Ride Part 02 is now available in high quality here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBTgtsMEg_8

and normal quality below:

I pulled off to let Torque pass due to debris in road. You'll see how bad the gravel gets near the bottom of the run. He eventually catches up with YellowMan, and there is a final view of Mt. Shasta in the final frames of the video.

Cheers,
Hex
