What a beautiful day it was. The wife and I decide to go for a ride.
Off with the Buell I go, the wife on her Ninja. Whilst merrily riding down the road we pass Deputy Gordon.
I new I was a little fast, but surly not fast enough to catch the eye of Deputy Gordon.
How wrong I was, as another mile down the road I find a set of blue and reds behind me.
I know that I am definitely inside the speed limit. What could have prompted this travesty, I have been ticketless for 15 years.

I immediately pull over, off with the gloves, helmet and start digging for my license.
“I clocked you going 67 back there” -Crap that’s a 45 road, I thought to myself.
Shocked “I didn’t realize I was that far over” head held low in shame as wife smirks while passing by.

Waiting, waiting, waiting,…

“Sir I just wrote you up for a warning”
Shocked into disbelief, what did I do to deserve such luck.
“You could have easily outrun me but you didn’t, Have a nice day”

And it was, although a little slower, Off to the Harley shop for my new mirrored visor and some oil for the baby. A full riding day did we have.

So thank you Deputy Gordon for your consideration, and for making what could have been a crappy day into one to remember.

Chris

I always love to see this kind of post, Chris. Kind of proves that "Da Man" has a heart doesn't it. PLUS makes you stop and think about what you're doing blasting down the road! (Not ME I'd NEVER go THAT fast!) Add to the fact you know he's got you dead to right and lets you go...If he runs for Chief vote for him!

So often all we see is the "I wasn't doing anything and he pulled me over"

Have a little sense show a little respect and most of the time you'll find they the Police aren't "Out to get me".

We were out riding yesterday with a group of Buellers and one Harley. A motorcycle cop came into the restaurant we were at and "jokingly" said we ought to get REAL bikes. Cute!!!

Then, coming home we were going a little bit past the speed limit and passed a Sheriff going the other way. We slowed down then stopped to look at a map. The sheriff turned around, and as he passed us he slowed down like he was going to stop, but kept going.

I've only been stopped when I did something wrong and have only been ticketed when I deserve it. Can't say the same thing for some of friends, however....

I had a simalar thing happen last year. I was going about 70 in a 55 and met a statetrooper ,saw him hit his brakes and slowed down to 55. A minute later he was behind me with lites on.I slowed to about 40 and turned on right blinker. As soon as I got to a safe place to stop .I got off and took my helment off and put it on bike.He walked up and ask to see my lic.then checked tag and inspection sticker. He then told me to slow it down and thanks for stopping.I thanked him and told to have a nice day. I did ride slower that day. I guess the fact that I stopped quickly and the suprise of a gray beard and hair on a sport bike shocked him.
