I love that bit.

If you haven't seen it, catch "An evening with Kevin Smith."

A clip or two- first is him telling about his protest.

Compilation of his speaking at colleges.
First I saw of him doing this.

I live in Utah. I hate pretty much every minute of it. I'm high tailin' it out of this state as soon as they hand me my degree in December.

Hate to tell you Utah, your address is still USA

That doesn't mean a privately owned movie theater can't pick and choose what movies it shows. The owners are annoying for sure but that hardly violates any bill of rights amendments.

+1 Gschuette. Only one hurting from this is that theater, everyone will go across town instead. I love how they screwed up and started showing Sex Drive instead of a kids movie!

I'm an idiot, I only saw the headline "'Zack and Miri' Banned in Utah"

Your not an idiot. The paper is for a missleading headline. While true it is banned in Utah, just at some crappy chain.

In fact, there are 2 theaters in Salt Lake City, with several nearby that have it showing

Not counting late night programming, the movie's subtitle "make a porno" hasn't been included in tv ads for a while now.

If it wasn't for the controversy I probably wouldn't pay to see it.

It looks like a dumb movie much like Knocked Up.

The movie company has the right to produce whatever they can get through the censors and think will sell. Conversely, the owner of the theater has the right not to show that movie in his theaters.

Seems the rights are all in harmony.

If a business owner chose not to sell Chinese products in his store, would you be as incensed? What if a Church refuses to marry homosexual couples?

It isn't censorship. It's free choice.

Yes, but free willed tight-puckerholed freaks.

If I refuse to buy a Dixie Chicks CD, it isn't censorship. It's me exercising my free will as a consumer.

I'm not refusing to watch this film because of it's content. I'm refusing to spend $9 on silly movie. I'd rather ride for the 150 miles the $9 would buy me.

Well, then, that, clearly goes for all movies, these days. A question of random economics as opposed to targeted content issue.
I rarely catch movies in theatres anymore- and I know few who do.
Speaking of which- Ever watch Rocky Horror on DVD/VCR, etc.?
Really a preternatural experience without all of the sexually-repressed nerds throwing toilet paper at the screen.....

The local theater ran Friday Night showings of HRPS every week. In addition, the theater also had a liquor license.

It simply isn't the same WITHOUT the local color.

Somehow screaming "where's your fuqqin' neck" at the tv by yourself just isn't the same.
