Looking through the QUICK BOARD titles, I see very little political headings, mostly all Buell or motorcycle related headings. You my dear Buellgrrrl are the one that keeps changing the thread patterns causing people to get all helpful then defensive. Ironken, my brother(in a metaphysical sort of way)we are all just humans reacting to the chaff that distracts us from our one common intrest here, motorcycles. Please be understanding to everyones human frailities, spelling errors and all. Buellgrrl you are welcome at my house as the rest of the folks here are, I currently have some very good beer in the fridge and venison on the stove. May this thread RIP as we all get along. Glitch, I think what is bugging Ironken is that when some one, somewhere, just happens to refer to the Dems or a union they get whacked. Sort of like the whack a mole game. Every time those words pop up people jump up and bet on them, and I have seen this happen in a "non-political" thread. Ironken has the same frustration in these posts that can be seen in the people who are quick with the stick. It appears to me that they have a knee jerk reaction to those words or ideas. Their statements may very well have been validated in their own life experiences, it just comes across as bashing at times. Ironken if I'm wrong on this please say so now. I personally try not to discuss politics with anyone I can't see. Body language has a lot to do with understanding when you are pushing to far. Sometimes we forget to be decent and humane to one another. Ironken don't leave mad, take a break for a time, maybe a few weeks. Then come back and see if you feel the same. If you do just bow out, don't flame out. Peace | ||

Some of the people on Badweb act like they haven't sprouted pubes yet. The t-shirt incident and this petty outburst are prime examples. Try growing a set instead of acting like a gaggle of thin skinned little babies. I wouldn't trust some of these little babies on a group ride if they ride like they whine. This ain't the GOP, it's just that most here are conservative or at least not inclined toward the Dem candidate. So what? Don't be upset or discouraged. Have your convictions and argue back. When it comes to Buell, if you don't like them then by all means get lost. When it comes to being an American however, stand your ground. Sure you might get some heat, but give it back! There are libs and conservatives in my group, ASBN. We get along just fine. Don't run out, it's the wrong move. | ||

BadWeB really is a good little community, and it might not be for everyone but with 299 posts under your belt I'd say its safe to assume you have been involved in many other threads that you actually enjoyed! Can't let any get under your skin. and yes, I too can't wait for the elections to be over! Tired of hearing about it everytime I turn on the TV! We bought a Buell, which in it's self makes us unlike all the other sheep out there. I can't wait for the election to be over. This forum has shown its ugly side. And I suspect I am not the only one with that opinion. I usually log in once a day. As of late I have noticed fewer, and fewer new posts. Also I have noticed less forum involvement from some of our more senior/prominent members (including myself.) I didn't notice this sort of drop off the same time last year. I say it is time for more Buell, and less ugly politics. | ||

People are just talking about what's on their minds, same as always. Current events are a universal language. Politics is front and center right now, in two weeks it'll be something else. Always happens. This summer it was high gas prices and where's Brett Favre gonna play. In the winter it's how cold is it where you are talk. It's that damn sandwich thread that came out of no where. If you want to avoid the news of the day stuff, just stay off the quick board or avoid the subjects you don't like. | ||

I think it's sad that either "wing" would allow political views to obstruct the general good will of the board. I disagree with many political views I read online, but I feel no reason to address them on the www. I prefer to address them through an arcane process known as "voting" I don't care who you are, or who you want in offic3e, just please get out and vote. As to the sponsors: They're all big boys and girls, and they respond strictly to numbers- not to political leanings....who could possibly blame them? If this board went far-left, tomorrow, no sponsor would (or should) care a whit, as long as there remained a healthy volume of traffic to this site, which there still, undoubtedly, would be. If you don't agree with a political view, remind YOURSELF that this isn't a political board, but, rather, a motorcycle board, and that responding to any such political BS will only make you a part of the alleged problem. Blake, the site's owner, represents a far-right political viewpoint, which is his prerogative and his RIGHT, and should his own website reflect his sincere political viewpoint, such bias only serves to remind us that this IS still America, where a citizen can still broadcast their beliefs and views. Frankly, if Blake suffered some cranial trauma, and suddenly decided to make badweb the voice of the American socialist party, he'd still be operating well within his rights as an American citizen. Let the political angst go, and work toward improving your own home, your hometown, etc., and taking the time to drop the conflicts. This board is really about Buell motorcycles and the riding of same. Vote your opinion, and post your riding thoughts, and ignore political opinions that run counter to your own. | ||

Overall IMHO, it is nice that people care enough about their country to voice an opinion. In times past I have seen fairly large groups of folks get together near election time and everyone was afraid to mention politics for fear of reprisals, or simply for a lack of interest. | ||

Ironken, In the political environment we live in today it's awful hard to check your religion and your political beliefs at the doors. This is a forum and we're all bikers. I can't speak for the sponsors but if I were one I would expect to find what I see here. There are times I agree with very little here. There are other times that it feels just like the old days, when everything was new and Buell and the internet was just taking off and we were all trying to sort out our machines and find like minded souls to ride with. I once owned a 1909 Thor single with a factory under-slung exhaust. It also had a foot operated cut-out that would allow you to run full open exhaust with a slide kick of the heel. Imagine if I tried to tell these folks that Erik's parents weren't even born when that bike was made. What if I woulda told them when they scream some manufacturer is copying Erik's design of an under-exhaust with bypass feature that my 1909 Thor was equipped with? Tramp -- if you are familiar with history (as I think you are), you'll find that, with very few exceptions, this country doesn't think as one. There are simply too many of us to do so, and it's so easy to forget that our aspirations are very, very similar -- Now, we could certainly ACT as if our best interests were inexorably linked (as I believe they are) -- that'd be aces -- in spite of all the evidence to the contrary, I prefer to remain hopeful, and not to stand in the shadow you describe | ||
