... classic air-cooled Porsche 911 today : D. I've always loved Porsches, 911's in particular, but I'd never driven a 911.

There was a red 911 parked out the front of work this morning... Turns out one of our project managers owns it, a 1984 911 3.2 Targa, and he let me take it for a lap around the block (after a small amount of begging and pleading). Really, really nice car, and that sound : D.

So is there a bike or car that you've dreamed of riding or driving? Have you had a chance to do it?

cheers,
chili

When I was 15 My moms boss had a new viper....took me for a spin and I loved it!! I jokingly said it would be cool to see some tire spinnage and he busted the cleanest 180 I had ever seen! the old man dropped it a gear...popped the clutch and the ass end ever so gracefully just flung around to a perfect 180 in the opposite lane next to us heading back! needless to say ever since I have tried many many time to replicate his moves and I always screw it up :-)

Then later in life working for benz, was able to drive all the high end AMG cars
(and when I say drive, I really mean beat the ever loving piss out of them...HEHE)
Although, I never got to drive the Mclaren SLR :-(
That was the only car they didnt let just anyone drive...but really whats half a million bucks, haha.

But in all, Lamborghini is my unicorn....
One day!!!! Just one day!!!!

The Buell was my dream machine. I've been enamored with the XB series since I saw them in 2002. I've had two! Possibly working on numero tres in the spring.

I had always wanted a Four Eyed Ford and bought an 82 Mustang GT. A few grand later in machine work and various trips to Summit Racing, she was working on an easy 400 hp. She was totaled by a lady without insurance. I've seen $40.00 from her for my loss in Feb 2003.

Got to drive a friend's dad's 69 Mach 1, 70 Mach 1, 70 Boss 302, a supercharged 50 something Thunderbird, etc And various Edsels.

Before that, it was a Viper. I got to drive one, complete with a burnout.

Recently, while not a dream ride, I got to drive a new Lotus Exige(?)

My boss let me drive his SLR McLaren. All I did was jokingly ask. On a side note, I'd be pissed if I spent half a million on a car and it had Chrysler logos on it.

Would love to give someone's rock crawler a whirl now...

Working in a garage and just being a car guy, I've driven lots - Corvettes, GTOs, Firebirds, BMWs, Mercedes, old Monte Carlos, Porsches, etc.

For bikes, I'll ride anything. Anything I haven't ridden is on my list.

For cars, I'd like to drive something really old - Ford Model T or Model A, or something similar. I'd also to like to drive some sort of modern exoctic - Lambo, Ferrari, Lotus, etc. Oh, and the new Camaro, but that will some soon enough once the Cobalt is paid off ; )

When i was 18 yrs old back in 1980 i had a chance to drive a 1971 ford pantera. I was the most exotic car i had ever seen then much less drove. i it still one of the coolest cars i had driven.

My old man is a bit of a Porsche enthusiast. He currently has three really nice Porsches.

He has a 2007 911 GT3

and a 2008 Cayenne GTS

He also has one of these a 2008 Porsche Design Edition Cayman but I have never been around it to take a picture of it. I only get home about twice a year.

Of all the nice cars I have been able to experience through pops I have to say his old BMW E46 M3 was a pleasure to drive. When you step it up a bit the car just feels right. Almost like it knows what you are going to do next. Very Buell like you could say. Porsches are cool though, no doubt. Nice cars and motorcycles are the reason I aspire to be incredibly wealthy after I get out of college. Houses, girls, vacations, restaurants? Nope. I'm in it for the vehicles.

I like that philosophy! I haven't ridden many other bikes in the last 10 years, but doing my best when I can get test rides when I can at the moment.

And that's a nice GT3 : )

I seem to like old stuff more than new, but of the new stuff a Porsche GT3, and any Beemer M3 or M5 would be a dream drive. On two wheels it'd be a BMW HP2 Sport, Duc 1098R, current GSXR750, and 1125CR.

Of the old stuff... Oh, heaps of things! 911RS 2.7, a Hemi powered Mopar, an Australian E49 Charger 6-pack Hemi, GT350 Shelby Mustang... Moto-Guzzi LeMans MkI, Ducati Supermono, Manx Norton, Buell RR1000 or RR1200, Honda RC30... the list goes on, but you never know what can happen : D

Got to drive my sister's (2003) S-type Jag for six months this year. It was pretty nice and got a lot of looks, and I gave at least a couple pretty girls a ride. Probably not much compared to those bikes listed above, but it was still fun to drive.

One of my coworkers asked me once what my dream bike was, it was awesome to be able to just grin and say "I'm riding it."

While I've ridden other bikes mine is still my favorite.

I've ridden and driven a lot of old American classics ('32 lowboy, various mustangs, camaros, olds) but not any exotics. When I was 16 my aunt let me have her Audi 5000 quite regularly, I was big pimpin' let me tell you

But my exotic laundry list includes (and when I hit the lottery I'll own) an '88 911 w/the huge whale tail, porsche guards red of course. A Testarossa, a Countach, Henessey Viper, Calloway Corvette and a long list of old American muscle to round things out. I know the last two aren't exotic but with the money I make they might as well be.

One of my coworkers asked me once what my dream bike was, it was awesome to be able to just grin and say "I'm riding it."

I think about that everyday - it's nice to be so in love with such an affordable peice of machinery. Now if I could just my '64 XLCH in the shape I want it in...

I like that philosophy!

That goes for most anything, really, including cars - but bikes especially. New or old doesn't make a difference, but I get very drawn to the really old stuff, probably just based on how hard they are to find in good shape. I'm hoping my XLCH fills that void for me.

Since they came out a couple of years ago, I have been wanting the Ford GT40. I was hot for those back in the sixties as a child. I'm not even a Ford guy, but I might have to make an exception for that.

European exotics don't entice me much. They seem too small.

It is fun to watch those guys on Top Gear thrash these dream cars though.

Well, I have drove tons of great cars...

Drove a First Gen Viper, first gear was useless.

I tuned a 69 911S for a buddy, not real powerful but handled like a freaking dream! Him and I raced my 94 Firebird and his 911, I whooped his ass down this long straight road, I slowed down and turned into the hood the party was at and in my rearveiw I saw him sliding past the hood with smoke boiling out of all four tires! The tires could not handle the brakes!

I drove a turbo 95ish 911, very very wicked!! My only complaint was the pedals were to close, but I was young and now I can see the advantage.

Ferarri 288, Now I did not get to hammer that one, but she was sweet to listen to.

Many more but those stand out.

As for bikes, Well I will ride anything, and I mean anything, but I have limited exposure to exotics. I grew up on dirt and Harleys, and about nothing else was allowed over.

I witnessed last week a "mine is bigger than yours" impromtu highway ego session between a Porsche Cayman and one of the Charger SRT units.

I've never seen anything go small so fast in a rear view mirror.

Germans are some smart fellers.

I'm a big Mopar guy (mom brought me home from the hospital in a '70 Charger with a 440/6), and I've owned and driven quite a few. Still own my high-12-second smallblock 72 Satellite *station wagon*, and am rebuilding my 87 Shelby CSX to run in the 11s again with a 2.2 turbo 4 banger.

Yep, I'm weird. So's my wife - she LOVES her Magnum R/T hemi with SLP exhaust : )

Used to own a '49 Coronet sedan - cool old gangster car, straight six, semiauto trans on the tree...neat. Nearly as much fun as my $50 (yes - fifty) 78 Volare, 30k miles, /6 auto, ice cold air and SPOTLESS. Also got nearly 28mpg... Mother-in-law's (restored) 61 Nash Metropolitan convertible is in my barn at the moment, because I won't let her park it in a field uncovered (and because I own tools...she doesn't). We do have an old M35A2 deuce-and-a-half parked in a field, that we use to clear brush on a piece of property we want to build on (the clutch pedal - HEAVY - nearly killed my knee the other weekend!). Big, slow, heavy, noisy...but it'll pull trees out of the ground, heheh. Eventually I'd love to find a wood-wheel car to play with.

I've driven Vipers (tons of fun), Corvettes (getting kinda sanitary for my tastes), and tons of bracket-only cars, but my favorite to date was probably the 87 GNX that I test drove back when it was new. Poor guy was turning green...but I think that thing started my love affair with boost : )

Dream car? I've met Carroll Shelby, he autographed my 89 CSX-VNT for me back in 2001 (still got that one, too; fully documented and 50k miles). I'd have to say my dream car is an aluminum body Cobra - a *real* one, not one of the kits. Lots of the kits are quite nice...but they're just not "it" to me. That car is like a 4-wheel Buell to me - raw, no manners, but boy-howdy are they fun to play with : )

Fieros!

My first car was an 84 Fiero SE and I was in love. With just the stock sport suspension option that car had zero body roll and cornered like it was on rails. Unfortunately the fiero got BBQed after a little unattended trash burning incident.

I've always wanted a GT with a Northstar or 3800 swap.

Other than that I've always wanted to drive a Nissan Skyline. Never even seen one in person though..

In my youth I had a 2 Chevelles, '68 with a small block V8 and a '70 SS convertible 396 cowell induction hood, SS wheels, Red with white stripes and top. My dream car would have to be the '68 Shelby GT 350 Cobra. From showroom to the track...

You don't see this every day.. I'd still prefer the 3800 or Northstar though.

But back on topic, either of these would be nice. I've always been amazed by the Mclaren F1 and Nissan Skyline.

As of 2009 the Skylines are sold stateside for a mere $76,000.

My fathers Fraternity brother invested wisely in coal mines and now he's got some cool stuff. When I lived at his place and worked in his companies he let me stretch the legs of his toys. And of his fleet I got to flog on the following:
98 & 05 Viper
69, 98 & 08 Cobra
59, 73, 04 & 07 Corvette
401 Gremlin(Factory wheelie machine)
Prostock AMX(Retitled as an 03 with 2700HP)
65 Ambassador
02 F-250 with a caterpillar powerplant(Daily driver when my Bronco had heart surgery)
59 T-Bird
02 F150 Trophy truck(The flying couch)

And my personal favorite
1929 International tanker truck

I got to drive an R32 Skyline GTR (the original Godzilla) once, very very briefly... Awesome. Incredibly "solid" feel, like the chassis was carved out of a block of billet steel.

Skyline's have a revered reputation here, mainly for beating the traditional Ford and Holden V8's at the "Big Race", the Bathurst 1000.

I've always liked the mid eighties 911 cabriolet, toss up on the guards red or a triple black.

A friend had a '70 AAR 'cuda, that was the first car I ever rode in that went over 120 on the hwy.

I've driven a 1st gen Viper, they're fun.

current project:

Hopefully I'll have it done next fall. I'm doing bodywork on the cab now. I have a complete perimeter frame and all the stainless steel front control arms/rear 4 link. Air ride suspension. Plans are for an LS1/auto drive line. Leaning more euro style than the hot rod Photoshop rendering.

I've got it in my head, just need to get it on to my truck.

Would be really cool to see a thread pop up, of some work in progress photos Toona. It looks awesome.
As for a few dream cars...hhmm. As meek as it sounds, I've always just wanted a humble F100. Something as a do-er up-per. We have the basis for this now, but lacking time and cash to get started on her properly. Something about motorcycles costing too much at the moment!
A mustang convertible was a high priority at one stage, but I've been converted to a desire for a hardtop.
As far as bikes go, I'm working my way up through the ranks slowly. First my little girl Honda CD250( my first bike, I was incredibly proud of her). Now Zed, my zephyr550, and now that I have actually ridden the X1, I'm thinking there might be an XB9 somewhere in the future.
I had no big dreams to start with, I'm creating them as I go.
