How about the sponsors of this forum? Do they want their ad money going into a motorcycle enthusiast forum or the GOP promotion forum? If I were spending my advertising dollars, I sure as hell would want my money going to a place that strays away from religion, politics and the likes of what has been brought up here often and promoted by the forum owner and something geared more towards what sells my product....O.K. boys flame away....I can care less if I get pitched from this forum. I am about tired of all of the Dem and Union bashing that goes on here anyway....We'll see how long this thread lasts.

I don't know if it should be officially censored. However, I personally try my best to keep my opinions about; politics, religion, and abortion to myself. I can still "F" with people plenty while avoiding these topics. I think I have been quite successful in avoiding them and shall continue doing just that.

I don't think you will get canned if you communicate what you wish about the Dem party and Obama. But you are doing it by attacking those whom are expressing their opinions about the political scene. They are not attacking you. They are on the opposite side, and I see that maybe they argue their case better than you. If you do your research and intellectually spar with them on the course of subject instead of personally attacking them for having a strong point of view that happens to be 180 out of sync with yours, you can still come away from this as friends.

Don't fall on your sword, spar damn you! I'm not voting Dem, but I want to hear what your arguments are.

Well I know a couple of the sponsors personally.

The ones I know dont give a crap what you argue about here, if you are here arguing, you are prolly seeing their ad and might get sidetracked and buy something.

Politics, religion, and abortion are topics I only talk about if brought up by others. I have views on all but I'm not "polished" enough in any of them to carry an intelligent conversation over. I'm Independent, I vote for who's bullshit sounds the best. I went to a Catholic school solely to play football and be a big fish in a small pond. Haven't walked into a church in nearly ten years. With abortion, you do what you feel is right for you. ---My take....Saying what one feels is not going to make me like or dislike someone. You have your views/opinions, I have mine. As long as we can still drink a beer together, all is well.

I couldn't care less if you want to start a political thread. I encourage it. I love debate.

Political threads get moved to the backdraft board when people lose the ability to attack ideas and not people.

Throw ad hominem attacks or personal attacks at people and it gets bumped.

It doesn't get deleted. It doesn't get locked. It gets moved out of public view where one member personally attacking another isn't in the most frequented section of the board.

I can only remember two threads being locked on this board.

One was a personal attack on Rocketman. I locked it at his request (I would have locked it regardless because I didn't want to see him or anyone else personally maligned.). The second was by one member when he didn't get a t-shirt someone else promised him. That thread went on until it became ridiculous. It was locked for the same reason.

Opposing political views are not nearly enough to get you banned, blocked, or reprimanded. Failing to abide by the board rules, posting porn, or personally attacking another member is.

Unlike 99% of the boards I frequent, the owner of this one just happens to be of a conservative nature. Visit Advrider.com if you'd like a board with a contrary slant.

PS. The owner of that board is a multi-million dollar trust fund baby who is hard Democrat as far as I can see.

Etennuly, what you say is correct about me. Do I want to take the time to spar? answer No! After this thread plays out, I'm out. This board does not fit me. Unions come up and it is a bloodbath, Dems come up and it is a lynching. I like Buells...that's it. Ulynut-you are exactly correct, I won't. And along with not reading the political threads, I won't be seeing the advertisements either...Get it?

BTW Etnnuly....I like your last line in your post. Pretty cool

The advertisers implicitly support Blake in running his board the way he sees fit. This is first and foremost a bulletin board about Buells and friends of Buells.

Overtly political threads quickly go to the Backfire Board where one has to explicitly travel there to join the flamefest. Why are your knickers so twisted? Just don't go there. You appear to be morbidly fascinated and can't seem to stay away.

Plus you are a wee bit myopic in your selective assessment that this is a Dem and Union busting board.

I love the political threads, I have learned a lot from both sides over the past few months. It really opened my eyes to some things I never really thought about before. Some people I agree with, some people I don't. I don't care how you feel about subject X, and I don't care who you are going to vote for. Other than Ft_bstrd making my head hurt with the overload of all the financial and tax info, I enjoy just sitting back and soaking it in. To be honest, at this time my vote was swayed from one side to the other because of the intelligently well argued points.

Keep them coming : )

So this forum needs more fairness doctrine?

Once again, the author has no control over his actions of clicking the thread and reading things he doesnt like so he demands or argues the owners suppress certain topics.

If obama does get elected I will be happy in a way. It will be what the American people deserve.

Take political discussions to the political sections of this and any NON-POLITICAL BBS. If you have so much trouble reading or have trouble understanding the need for a separate political session in a NON-POLITICAL BBS, then maybe you shouldn't be voting.

Proper Sparring Technique:

Obama: You are using Bonetti's Defense against me, ah?
McCain: I thought it fitting considering the rocky terrain.
Obama: Naturally, you must suspect me to attack with Capa Ferro?
McCain: Naturally... but I find that Thibault cancels out. Don't you?
Obama: Unless the enemy has studied his Agrippa... which I have.

oops - no political section on Badweb.

Poor custodians.

Suppose everybody needs to talk politics on sportbike boards despite the fact that there are TONS of political discussion boards that are VERY active.

I'd rather discuss beer. It's getting about that time.

Well i'm a sponsor on here.....

But at the same time this is the "quick board" which is for pretty much what ever anyone would like to talk about.

Now I do try my best to not talk about my personal preferences on here, but from time to time I'm sure I have.

Of course I want to sell as many lights as I can on here to help absorb the advertising costs, but if this board had only threads about the stuff us sponsors sold, it would soon be an empty place.
You can only talk about the stuff we sell so much!

So with that, I say lets talk about what ever pops in some nut job....umm I mean Buellers head

How will this go over in your place of employment?

Notice to All Employees

As of November 5, 2008, IF President Obama is officially elected into
office, our company will instill a few new policies which are in keeping
with his new, inspiring issues of change and fairness:

1. All salespeople will be pooling their sales commissions into a common
pool that will be divided equally between all of you. This will serve to
give those of you who are underachieving a "fair shake."

2. All hourly employees will be pooling their wages, including overtime,
into a common pool, dividing it equally amongst yourselves. This will help
those who are "too busy for overtime" to reap the rewards from those who
have more spare time and can work extra hours.

3. All top management will now be referred to as "the government." We will
not participate in this "pooling" experience because the law doesn't apply
to us.

4. The "government" will give eloquent speeches to all employees every
week, encouraging its workers to continue to work hard "for the good of
all."

5. The employees will be thrilled with these new policies because it's
"good to spread the wealth." Those of you who have underachieved will
finally get an opportunity; those of you who have worked hard and had
success will feel more "patriotic."

6. The last few people who were hired should clean out their desks. Don't
feel bad though, because President Obama will give you free healthcare,
free handouts, free oil for heating your home, free food stamps, and he'll
let you stay in your home for as long as you want even if you can't pay
your mortgage. If you appeal directly to our democratic congress, you
might even get a free flat screen TV and a coupon for free haircuts
(shouldn't all Americans be entitled to nice looking hair?) !!!

If for any reason you are not happy with the new policies, you may want to
rethink your vote on November 4th.

Nice not so subtle trick.
Threaten to kill the sponsors if you don't like posts.
Kind of like calling things hate speech.

I've seen all points of view expressed here except for only the ones I agree with exclusively.

It is a wheat and chaff kind of thing.

i am a former union carpenter, a democrat because of my union affiliation, but not a bleeding heart liberal democrat. i also spent 4 years in the navy and 2 in the pennsylvania army national guard, of where i was born and raised until i left for the navy. although some of the discussions do get out of hand sometimes, grudges aren't held for that long in general. you don't have to run off in a huff ken. there's still a lot of great people on this site. 9 days from now, it'll all be over with, one way or the other. we got a guy down here in florida on the presidential ticket with the tea party ticket, i think i'll vote for him.

I don't understand the original poster's point.
What's wrong Ken, did someone or something rub you the wrong way?
I hate political threads, (ask any of the moderators, I've tried several times to get them stopped) I only skim them when I get a PM from someone that feels like someone's gotten out of hand.
In this case the complain was about you, he thought you were threatening BadWeB's sponsors somehow, I don't think you were, but I do sense a lot of frustration in your posts.
My problem may very well be the same as yours with regards to political threads. I hate knowing that someone I like may be totally wrong about a certain subject, or political philosophy.
I feel much better, less frustrated, and less in the minority, if I just stay away from the subject.
I'd suggest you do the same, and stick with bikes and the like.
No I'm not a Democrat, nor am I a Republican, I'm clearly in the minority around here, so I pretty much stay out of the political threads. I even started a thread not too long ago asking everyone to debate politics on a different forum (as you can see that went over well).
The only time I really get involved is when I can talk taxes, other than that, I call all politicians regardless of party, liars. No one has been able to prove otherwise on that!
So please, if you must, you must, I'll not stop you, I only suggest that you not take all this political bullshit personally, you'll live longer, and happier.
