I was talking to a harley guy whos black bike was so shiny it looked like the paint hadnt even dried. Everything else was spotless to I might add. His secret was pledge. I tried it on my translucents and I cant believe how nice they look. They actually look new.

Post up your cleaning tricks.

Pledge (even the dollar store lemony variety) is great. I've been using it for years on all my bikes.

However, the best cleaner is rain.

It's no trick, I don't.

We used to use Mop-n-Glo on our inspection boots, it worked great.

It depends on how far you want to go to make things look new again. There are a lot of top quality products like Meguiars, Adams, Zaino etc. that can make painted and black plastic parts as well as all the finished metal parts look as good as or better than new. The car detailing guys that use this stuff and the proper techniques can produce amazing results with little effort.

Me, I've used Adams stuff on my Firebolt plastic body parts after learning about it from the Corvette Forum. But then I've got good results from Protect-All and Mothers instant-detailer spray for general clean-up too.

Got a customer who told me he used CD repair kits on his translucid bodywork. Squirt on the liquid "scratch repair fluid" or whatever they call it, and buff lightly with a clean, soft cloth.

I use plain ol' Harley Gloss on my tubers (same as Mothers quik detailer, but I get HD stuff at work). The Uly...rain works just fine.

Simple Green 1:10 in a spray bottle. Works great on bugs, road gunk, grease and grim. Spray on and hose off. Wipe dry with a soft cloth. Plus it is not harmful for the environment.

Wear dirty clothes, your bike will look that much cleaner.

If it is nice enough to wash the bike, shouldn't you be riding? S100 works when I can't tell the wheels are supposed to be white.

I clean the brake dust off of the wheels after every ride with compressed air. Just blow the dust off. Fast and easy.

heheheh - marginally related, but a GREAT TIP(!) that was passed on to me by necessity...

When your beautiful other half drives thru a "fresh oil" construction zone and brings home the car up to its' door handles in muck - spray it with a liberal amount of WD40 and wipe it off with [nice, thick & soft] paper towels. It really worked and I was really amazed.

I actually like to wash mine. Just plain old car wash soap. It only takes 15 minutes to wash the Uly, no matter how muddy you get it. Plus it's a good way to find loose parts and leaks.

I spritz the bike with WD-40 and wipe it down with a very slightly damp towel. On the very rare occasion that I have to use a hose or "stand back aways" pressure wash,I blow it dry with my leaf blower. Works fairly decent.

and I thought I was the only one...

Im just trying to turn over a new leaf and keep it a little cleaner than I have been. Seems a little silly when 5 minutes does so much. I love hearing what others are doing that yourself may have never thought of.
