Anyone else ever run into some prick driving a diesel truck (passenger, not semi) who gets a kick out of fogging you with soot?

I've had this happen twice recently. Both times it was young kids and a bunch of friends with them, and it's very obvious that what they're doing is no accident.

Not that I can ever recall.

Diesel exhaust bothers me in general, on a highway I can smell the commuter bus half a mile ahead. Oh then the times I get "stuck" behind the guy smoking a fat joint. : )

Happened to me coming home from Bueltoberfest. He was running a tank full of skunky diesel and took great pleasure in smoking me out.

So, I proceeded to flip on my high beam death ray HIDs. I couldn't smell the diesel for the smell of burning hair and singed flesh.

He proceeded to drive around the neighborhood for half an hour looking for me afterward.

A$$hat.

I drive a diesel Ram, and I make sure not to whomp it if there's a bike behind me.

My personal fave is the folks who *have* to wash their windshields when I'm behind them on a bike. Grrr.

No run-ins with diesels lately, but flicked cigarette butts are common...

I keep the inner elbow zipper vent loaded with three 1" steel ball bearings. Side windows explode quite easily. Just make sure that your bike/gear isn't easily distinguishable from others. I'm done turning the other cheek. Eff'em all!

The best diesel story I have is when trying to pass a self proclaimed "redneck" (at least by the bumper sticker on the the truck) The idiot sped up spewing forth the nice thick black fog, maybe he thought he was going to out run an M2?

Well I have a diesel car (01 Jetta TDI) that has some good mods done to it, so it gets PLENTY of fuel (which is most of that smoke you see pouring out the pipes)
And it will pour a good bit of smoke!
Not as much as a modded truck, but it will put up a black wall in the rear view.

anyhow, when people ride my ass, I drop it a gear and punch it....they normally smack the brakes as I'm sure they think my car is about to explode.

But I can't say I have ever done it to a bike.

for the ball bearings...remember: if they hit the ground first, they're road debris. If they go straight from your hand to the other vehicle, they're assault.

...and yes, there's a Jeep 4.2 lifter in the left pocket of my FXRG jacket for 'some reason'. lol.

I say go with the kick in the door idea if the driver is that big of a dick.

But please note guys that sometimes it might not be on purpose. but if you notice them laughing afterwards.....kick that door! haha

Broken porcelain bits if you need a window broken.

That said... always think of liability. Bikes are fast. Getting away is generally the better choice. Sometimes you don't have one though.

It's a monumentally bad choice to go for a side window. The front window is safety glass and will actually slow down an attacker if it shatters. Not so (on either count) with the side window.

Large ball bearings are better for radiators.

All this violence...

When crap like this happens I have no problem dialing 911. It most cities now they take "road rage" reports very seriously. Here in WA getting reported for road rage usually gets you a nice call/visit from a LEO.

While I might be a fan of instant justice, most of the time it is just not worth it.

Years ago my friend let me borrow his piece'o stuff wagon, and I was going down the freeway in So Cal. and this malcontent jerk kept riding like ten feet off of by bumper, I was in the center of three lanes, and this jerk would not back off cripe, he had two lanes open to go aroundand pass but no , this guy was in butthead mode. so after doing this for 20 miles or beter I figured I'd pull in in front of an 18 wheeler and block him from continuing this absurd stunt, but the beauty part of it was that this piece'o stuff wagon had some leak in the somethingorother that when it droped down into passing gear, somehow a vacum line would suck up tranny fluid, I guess, thats what it smell'd like, well as soon is it kicked down ofcourse I laid down a vapor trail, big enough to hide a 7 11 store, actually a bummer for me, but an even bigger bummer for him, last I saw he was going into the center dirt part of the freeway slowing down because surely he couldn't see, no harm, he just couldnt see. I sort of felt avenged silently and proceded home, and did avoid hitting passing gear from then on, luckily I never had to drive that piece'o stuff again. Wonder what that guy was thinking after that???

When I had my stroke... I would fog the hell outta someone if they were tailgating... especially on an OPEN multi lane highway....

That stack in the middle of the bed... a nice shot of fuel under the turbo... I could fog out 3 lanes no problem...and I mean BLACK...

DAMN I miss my S/D....

But, I never fogged a bike...

BUT, I did get a bunch of teenagers standing on a corner... running their mouths... It was a sidewalk smoker then....haha

We had a group of teenagers in a Cherokee hit their windshield washer and look back and laugh at two of us riding behind them. We picked up the pace and pulled up and lined up with their door. They were not laughing so much with bikes on either side as I looked over at them. Scared the snot out of them as they backed way off.

I do not understand cagers getting aggressive with motorcycles. That happens all the time to me. You are passing a cage and all of a sudden they can not stay in their lane. I have a Suburban and can tell you it happens far less when I have 5000# backing my pass instead of 500#.

Regardless what happens these days...a quick finger usually makes me feel a whole lot better.

Be careful with payback. I had a jerk-off in a 5.0 cut me off...got real close to my front tire. I went to pass him again and he basically ran himself off the road trying to block me (once I saw a clear lane I moved over and couldn't see that he was trying to stop me...couldn't hear over my own exhaust, either). Well, he taunted me by pulling beside me when in heavier traffic and repeatedly pulling over close...as if he was going to hit me. I really wouldn't have cared normally but my stepson was on the back and he was only eight at the time. They're bigger...and there's not much you can do when there's a psycho behind the wheel, and no where to escape. The best was when traffic stopped and he was yelling at the top of his lungs that I was trying to kill my son. I wanted so much to go over and put some carbon fiber hand armor to good use. I've never felt so much contempt for another driver.

I`ve been fogging obama supporters with my 7.3 powerstroke. I kinda figure that I should share my disgust with them. Too bad that I don`t get to drive it often. The big horse power program on my flash drive turns my truck into a giant smoke bomb.

You'd have to catch us first before you could smog us. And if you really want to get into a smog "war", don't take on folks that have CDLs and drive real diesel trucks... The Teamsters have endorsed Obama!

I sure am glad that I don`t belong to an organization who tells me and the world who I`m voting for. What`s next, "collective voting"?

I`m sure that there are at least a few Teamsters who won`t vote with the "Brotherhood" for obama.

Independence and Freedom first!

End of rant. Go ahead and flame me while I heat up the glow plugs.

yea, but those big rigs don't spit there smoke anywhere near close to the ground!
There stuff spits about 12 feet above all the folks on the road. So i'd love to see a big rig smoke out a crowd....

so I think the 1 ton pickups would win that "smog war"
