I like my tuber. It provides me an adequate excuse for being slow at trackdays, and entertainment value when I'm not.

If I had an XB, it would reduce my excuses for being passed, and I might actually have to admit I'm just slow.

I like the wide-open, engine-view, badassness of the tubers, but I'd probably like an XB better on the track if I owned one.

The 1125 is nice & fast, but I don't like it as much as the air coolers. The anvil simplicity of the 12R/9R motor is nice, plus no concerns about coolant replacement, radiator leaks, etc. I've never found that the 90 hp of the tuber has left me lacking entertainment.

It's what you love. I love my Blast. I'm guessing I'll dig a Uly XT or a Ss or a Tuber, but maybe not so much the 1125r, just because I like that sound and feel and characteristics -- bad and good -- that I find in the Blast and felt in my test of an XB.

Personal favorite 98 S1W the original Hooligan. It's just plain RAW!!! I have ridden both the 1125R and 1125CR and all XBs but the Uly. The most impressive Buell I've been on is the 1125CR the throttle response, acceleration and turn in is phenomenal. The throttle response and acceleration feels very much like my 2002 Ducati 998 it just pulls from idle to shift point. the CR may very well be the next bike in my garage.

I solved the dilemma... for myself anyway. Kept the S1 I bought in '96. Kept the XB9R I bought in 02 and augmented the stable with the 1125R last Dec.

I love them all. They are very different from each other. There is one underlying character spanning he 12 years. Unmistakably Buell; all of them. I can't explain it, but I do enjoy it.

This has turned into a really interesting thread for me and made me realise a few things. You see, I have pictures of the 1125CR plastered all around my desk at work, even though I haven't actually seen one in the flesh yet, and I think when I rode the 1125R I really *wanted* to like it, and I wanted it to be some sort of "super tuber"... which of course it can't be, it's two generations on from the tubers for a start.

It is also unfair of me to compare a tuber with a race kit (which is by no means technically road legal in this state) to a new bike which meets the latest emissions and noise laws. So obviously I need to ride an 1125 with a nice pipe and other mods : D.

The XB12R, and the 1125 even more so, seemed to have a smoother, more linear, power delivery than my bike. While I think it is quite amazing that Buell managed to get such a linear torque curve on the 1125 and meet emissions laws at the same time, is could it be the dips and rises in the power delivery give a bike some of it's character?

Nice solution!

So reversing my original post - what are the things that tubers and XBs and the 1125s have in common? To me they are all "do everything" bikes, they all have fast, light steering yet are stable at the same time, and all are quite easy to ride and confidence inspiring.

the answer is to have both..

i bought my 1125 in may yet no one can pry my S2 thunderbolt away from me still.

interesting though, since i compare my tuber to my 1125, i think that the 1125 is the all out hotrod with wicked power, that i pull a wheelie from every light with. i take that out when im club riding with the rest of the sport bikes. and the S2 is my cruising, relaxing bike that i take on trips when im riding with harley guys.

character-wise- both bikes have a lot of history and a story behind them. the S2 is like the first harley-buell joint bike. it shakes, its loud like a harley.. also was my first bike.

the 1125 is like the bike im proud to own because it holds its own around any of the superbike competition, while being american.. not japanese
