You’ve heard the rumors. They are all true!

I just received this message via triple-encrypted satellite fax. It reads as follows:

The Hudson Valley Headless Horseman Run Number 4 (aka HHR4) is officially (or unofficially…semantics hmmmpph) on. RAIN OR SHINE. The Hudson Valley is promising to provide some of the greatest fall colors in a long time. The roads are in good shape.

Saturdays ride (October 25, 2008) will begin on at the top of Perkins Memorial Drive in Bear Mountain State Park, NY. If you can’t find it, Google it.

We will meet at about 8:30 and shove off around 9:30. Coffee and Donuts will be available, kosher meals will be served upon request if requested at least 4 weeks in advance.

YOU will be required to take a route sheet. Duct tape will be available to affix the route sheet to your tanks/airboxes if you don’t have a map holder. There will be NO route markers this time. YOU will have to pay attention to your route sheets. THIS WILL BE A TOTALLY NEW ROUTE.

I urge all of you to procure some maps ahead of time that include the Hudson Valley (Putnam, Orange, Ulster, Rockland counties…) and familiarize yourself with the roads and geography. They also might come in handy if you get lost.

THIS WILL NOT BE A PARADE RIDE. While we encourage camaraderie, you must pick and choose whom you are comfortable riding with. There will be a few of you (you know who you are) who will have been briefed ahead of time and can serve as ad hoc group leaders.

SUNDAY (October 26, 2008) brings us to the second day of HHR4. Muster is at 8:30 once again at the top of the world, Perkins Memorial Drive. Coffee and donuts will be served (No Kosher meals available on this day) These routes will be familiar to HHR veterans as the more traditional HHR routes, and the days ride will end at a pre-determined location.

The same rules apply. You get a route sheet. You form up. You go have a blast.

THIS IS NOT A RACE. KEEP YOUR BALLS IN YOUR PANTS.

OBEY ALL POSTED SPEED LIMITS, AND TRAFFIC RULES.

WATCH OUT FOR GRAVEL, LEAVES BOTH WET AND DRY, DEER, AND LEAF PEEPERS.

RIDE YOUR OWN RIDE. RIDE WITHIN YOUR LIMITS. RIDE SAFELY.

SHARE CELL PHONE NUMBERS, SO NO ONE GETS LEFT BEHIND OR OUT IN THE COLD.

A head count would be nice too. If you plan on being there, chime in here.

The 25th and 26th...
Remember: It's always the last weekend before Halowe'en.

Remember: It's
TWO DAYS
OF RIDING-
Saturday will see whatever secret, new route the spirited-riding crew has put together, which will undoubtedly kick ass (& I have little clue where it runs)
Sunday will mark the traditional route.

If you have a sleeping bag, bring it, as I've heard that Mikexlr's gracious hosting of the unwashed Buell minions in his "back 40" (That's acres, not bedrooms) is not to be missed.
Bonfire, pumpkin toss, etc.
Coffee and Donuts will be supplied both mornings at Perkins before pushing off.
I urge any riders (we welcome all makes at the run, although it's typically more than 90% Buellers) who are free that weekend to make it.
It's becoming the true, unsanctioned, unofficial Buell run of the year.}

All right, GL!
Finally we'll be blessed w/your presence-
If anyone doesn't chime in, that's fine, too- we'll be there, either way, and all are welcome.
Is the rumour that Mr. Canfield is going to grace us with a book-signing true?

Also, shirts will be handled differently this year. We will attempt to bring some shirts for sale on the day of the run. This is NOT a promise. However, we will glom onto the www.HVMP.com established shipping system. HVMP are pros (Hi Sue!) at shipping and order taking. The transaction will be most likely via PayPal account to be revealed later. Expect the price to be about $15 per T-shirt.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions, so I will only say you will most likely be ordering the shirts after the run. I'm keepin' it real. But I have been told that as long the shirts are available they will be shipped without delay.

Are the shirts only available to participants ? I don't want to be the new guy trying to change things but i think that might be cool. A head count/sign in sheet and shirts ordered after the run in numbers no greater than the number of riders/passengers. I hate seeing Honalulu H-D dealer shirts on people who haven't been there and who don't even ride a H-D. I also plan on being there both days, sounds like fun.

'Stains-
We were left with many leftover shirts from last year, so I have NOT placed any new order as yet. As Johnnylunchmeat says, This is not a promise.
Were it not for last year's shirt sponsors (including some participants who quietly made donations, which is NOT expected), I'd be out much more shirt $ than I am.
This is no problem, as the ride and the people who come from as far away as New Hampshire, North Carolina, etc., make it all ABSOLUTELY worthwhile.
This season, we're focusing more on the run than on shirts. That being said, we'll likely have some of last year's shirts available on the run days, and we may even have new shirts, too.
Either way, JLB will be availing them to all of us through HVMP.com afterward.
Expect a radical new shirt design from the "Sons Of Monarchy"

In answer to your question, 'Stains- we always order more shirts than run participants-
Many participants order several, and many folks from other parts of the country (and even from other countries) request them, as well.
We give several to dear friends in the local Red & White, and some even go overseas to a European charter among whose ranks I count dear brothers....hence my non-bitching about being out some $ on shirts.
We do our best to make sure we have enough shirts for
anyone
who would like them.
