Steve,
We've had AT&T Uverse for about 4 months now, and love it.

Steve,

That is good to know. I hoped it would be good. Living in So. Cal, I could live without the Sunday Ticket 'cause its not that hard to find GB Packers friendly bars. But my roommate is a Bills fan, and the DTV account is in his name, so with DTV we stay.

Oh yeah, DTV finally has On Demand now like cable does, but it comes through an ethernet connection, not the dish. We're not hooked up to ethernet, so no On Demand for us.

I have DTV and love it. I won't EVER have cable again.

My dad has Dish.

I hate his system and he has had nothing but problems with his hardware. They source all their own hardware internally (Echostar).

Directv doesn't manufacture any of their own hardware. They source it from several manufacturers.

Your receiver has a model number and a manufacturer number. I have the HR22-700. The manufacturer code is as follows:

100 RCA
200 Samsung
300 Phillips
400 Hughes
500 Humax
600 LG
700 Pace
800 NEC

The benefit here is that enhancements to technology are driven by the desire to bring a new product to market (and make a profit).

Dish's system is concerned more about squeezing every penny out of the development before moving ahead with the next version. Also, faulty boxes under Directv's system come back to the manufacturer for credit.

I've never had a Directv box fail.

FiOS for 3+ years. Had DirecTV before we moved here. FiOS keeps expanding their HD lineup, and tends to have the best picture quality, courtesy of the backbone they're using. I expect to see them increase VOD and HD lineup as they expand into more markets.

I have a vested interest in FiOS, so my opinion is appropriately skewed.

>Does anyone know who has the best Quality of HD..

The HD version of rabbit ears. Your local over-the-air HD signal is easily the best - no compression!

But only your local channels, which I only watch when hockey isn't on Fox or Versus.

I've seen OTA at a local AV store...

Kinda Pisses me off That I pay for a far far less quality local HD channels...

We rented a movie on demand this weekend I'll never do another HD rental.. No difference IMO except HD version is a dollar more..

So does satellite compress their signals? From what I understand most Cable Company's don't have the Bandwidth...

I've even heard this about Fios, I have a friend at work switched Fios and switched back to Satellite.. Its new in my area maybe kinks are still being worked out?

I just might have to switch to satellite..

Everyone compresses. Except OTA.
