Last Saturday I performed a wedding ceremony for some friends Brent and Keri. Brent and Keri are accomplished musicians with a well known band in the area and have cut a few CDs. It was an outdoor affair with vows being exchanged at 7:13 p.m., which was when the sun set. They stepped over the silver spoon and jumped the broom, kissed the bride and sang “Big Fat and Wide”. After the ceremony and food I was sitting on the back deck enjoying the evening while Brent and Keri serenaded the group with love songs. In the group was a large hulking man probably 6’ 4” He was none other than Fritz Kling, in 1994 Fritz rode the Harley Davidson VR1000 in AMA competition. Fritz has terminal brain cancer, his wife was there lovingly doting over him, his left side is now pretty much useless other than for his wife to pick up his left hand hold it to her face and kiss it now and then. It was incredible to see the love she has for him. It was a very emotional sight to watch as she would caress his face and head and kiss him seemingly all the time.

After one of the musical sets, Uncle Sandy the Sandman, who had been happily snapping pictures of the evening events loudly pipes in, “Fritz, tell me, what’s it like to be going around a corner at 100 MPH and feel the rear tire start to move out on you? It really must be something going that fast and having both the rear out and still hanging on while the front tire starts pushing out too, it must be crazy your mind telling you to keep on but the sensations from your body screaming STOP!?” Fritz smiles and says, “Well, sometimes you have to get your knee down.”

Later that night Brent and Keri sang Fritz and Tinas favorite song I watched as Tina hugged onto Fritz and kissed his head and face. I thought back to what Fritz had said, about getting a knee down. I want to ask that sometime when your prayers are said if some of us Badwebbers could put a knee down for Fritz and his family as they go through this difficult time.

Also if you could Google his name there are a few links to interesting stories about him and what a standup guy he is and some of the fund raising that is going on in his familys behalf .

Thanks

Sounds like Fritz is a lucky man to have a gal like that by his side.

Unfortunately the candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long.

Why can't sacks of crap die early?

That picture says a world of words. He knows that he can lean on her, and we could all hope that given the same situation, to have someone in our corner like this. My knee is down.

You can count on me to send my thoughts and prayer, "put a knee down" for Fritz, his family and friends.

Fritz Kling yielded to brain cancer this morning.

His family is still making arrangments.

If you could all pray for his family and their friends during this difficult time.

I was only lucky enough to meet him one time here, but I have read some of the stories other racers have written about him and he was quite a stand up guy.

Thanks
