Mine doesn't hurt, but it's like going through puberty all over again. 'Bout half the time when I try to talk, I squeak.

I had a tube six times (six surgeries) over the course of a week, mid July of this year. Voice is better, but still not where it used to be.

My personal favorite 'self-medication' is 15 year old Laphroaig single malt. Cures EVERYthing...at least for me : )

Thanks...

Damn six surgeries... I thought I was bad

I'm having one more in December, Kinda wish I would have been able to do everything at once..

If its not better tomorrow I might have to just break out a bottle..

I had no choice but to do them all at once - wrecked a bike on July 16, gave 'em plenty to fix. Learned to walk again sometime in August, still going to PT 3x a week.

BUT - rode my Uly yesterday for the first time, and today's steed was the S1W. Gawd, it feels good to be back in the saddle!

Usually the worst is the day after, gets better every day after that.

I've had it done at least a dozen or more times. It has permanently damaged my vocal cords.

I hope everything goes well for you, and you can get back on your bike quickly!

ps. I had to look it up to be sure I was talking about the same thing. I was always just told "We will be putting in an air way right after we put you to sleep". It's called intubate, or endotracheal intubation. After all these years I learned what it's called.

It has permanently damaged my vocal cords.

Were there any indications this was happening? They've checked mine and say they're just shaped around where the tubes were, but no scar tissue showing...yet. Nobody has a guesstimate on how long they'll take to 'heal'. Been 3 months now, still trying to gauge timeframe.

I do NOT want to squeak like I'm in puberty for the rest of my life...but I guess I can live with it. At least I can walk around again : )
