I found a pocket holster with a clip that will fit inside the top of my boot. I have a cross strap shoulder type that is OK, but it gets uncomfortable on long rides.

I agree with Bigdaddy about not having your firearm on your person while riding. It's going to "leave a mark" at best. If practical, I carry in my tank bag while riding and then transfer to IWB holster when at destination. The transfer is the tricky part and if I feel it will be too difficult to accomplish, I'll switch to another gun and carry method, usually a j frame .38 in a pocket holster in a jacket pocket.
Also, keep in mind that many IWB holsters don't have much in the way of retention devices. While hunting, I used to carry in my everyday IWB holster(which I still carry everyday) but switched to a more secure holster after having my pistol "fall out" of the IWB holster while hanging a tree stand. As someone else mentioned, we tend to move around a lot while riding and it wouldn't be a real good time to try and be grabbing for a gun "falling out".

My first hand gun was a Rugar 357 single shot old western style with the side load. That thing was a cannon! The Copsplus link I just pulled off the internet! Maryland is tight on the gun laws too. I have to seperate ammo from gun and travel with them to the range I shoot at. We can carry on our own property but who wants to advertise? K

Court is right,

I'm a former LEO and while I don't talk much about it, shooting people isn't like the movies. I never want to be put in that position again.

I'm a civilian now and have one mouth and two legs. That's God hinting I'm supposed to run twice as much as I mouth off.

Ok.. for a shoulder rig - You can't beat the Galco Miami Classic -

They also make a world class IWB called the SkyOps - works really well with the right belt and pants I go in shirt sleeves.

Fist makes good custom rigs and can make you a waistband rig to your specs (thumb brake, back panel etc.)

You'll need to work out what you are going to be wearing while you ride 'cause it dictates what you can carry and how.

Also like many have already said, really think about it before you decide to carry while riding.. It's a big mental thing and you may not want to consider all that can happen..

Just a few words..

Court.. Next time your down my way, drop me a line we'll do some recoil therapy.

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed
tell that to Diane Frankenstien...who by the way has a cwp, go figure.

I would love to. I really miss sport shooting in NYC.

Thanks !

Tank bag seems like the best solution. I can't see a full size 1911 hiding very well under a fitted leather jacket...and certainly wouldn't want to land on it if I went down.

Won't have to worry about fitted leather. I wear a tourmaster transition textile unless I'm on the track. And won't be packing heat on the track : p

Galco miami classic looks great and exactly what I'm looking for. Ill look into adding a more compact handgun to my inventory before buying a holster though
