I currently own a Suzuki 06' GSXR750. I love my bike but I have always loved Buells but have never owned one or ridden one. I am 40 years old 5 foot 9 and 170llbs. My question is I am looking at the XB12Ss and the XB12Scg. I am wanting something comfortable for riding longer than I can on the GSXR but with the sport bike abilities. Can I get some feed back on these 2? I am really leaning toward the CG due to its lower stance. Thanks for any help you guys can provide. | ||

I have only ridden the Ss. No long trips yet. Just 50 to 60 mile hops. No issues on comfort at those short rides. They make a gel filled touring seat that I am going to look into. I went with the XB12Ss because I think that extra length and seat height fits my riding style and size (5'11" at 200lbs). You could go with either model and be happy. I would ride them both just to be sure. Let us know on your choice! | ||

I go with the Ss. Ya get about a extra gal. of fuel and you can put the Lightning Long Touring Seat on it which drops the seat hgt by 1" | ||

I am 5'9" go with the SS and touring seat the little longer wheel base and thicker beefier 43/41mm forks make a considerable difference I can do 3000 miles in a day no problem | ||

I'm 24, 5'9", too fat. I have the ScG, but have actually converted it to the standard suspension for more versatility. I reach the ground just fine with a 30" inseam on an standard S seat. I think you'll be fine with the SS. You get the aforementioned fuel capacity, longer wheel base (more stable, should ride smoother), larger diameter fork legs(stiffer=handles better), and naturally the longer seat. | ||

I rode the SS at the inside pass day. Nice motor, great brakes! A bit on the squished size for me (6'2"), but a great bike. I will say I was NOT fond of the stock seat. Probably very comfortable in a straight line, but an awkward edge on a dish that made it really hard to get off the bike for corners. I very much preferred my 05 9sx seat (which I think is also called the skyline seat). The good news is that many of the S seats are interchangable, and priced reasonably. So it is easy to find one, either trade somebody with the opposite problem as you, or just buy one. Test ride the 12X as well. There is a *serious* sport bike hiding in that sheeps clothing. Relative to a GSXR 750, you will have lots more bottom end power, and significantly less top end power. And a day and night difference in comfort  | ||

If you're riding solo on an Ss, get a TT seat. Comfy, flat, grippy...awesome (IMO). I'm 6'4" and have a scrawny butt (even more so since the wreck/hospital stay/weight loss). I'd go Ss before Scg, not as much for the height but for seat comfort. The cg has a scooped out seat for the height, and it strikes me as hard. Also definite pluses for the extra fuel in the Ss, and a little more relaxed handling from the longer wheelbase (still razor-sharp, but doesn't feel as 'nervous' on tip-in as the short wheelbase bikes can - to me, but I ride tubers lol). |
