Author Message   Ferris Posted on Monday, November 10, 2003 - 08:26 am:        ...unwanted BattleTrax trophies lying around? i'm looking for two of the plexiglas (lucite?) plaques/trophies that Reg used to award for a podium finish at BattleTrax. i never received two different Top Time of Day trophies (was supposed to get them later in the mail, but Reg is now out of them), and i'd like to fill in the blanks in my collection. thanks. (You just knew I'd reply with that.)   Ferris Posted on Monday, November 10, 2003 - 10:33 am:        yep, Mike, that was yer basic fatball, right down the middle one of the trophies i'm missing was for a BattleTrax held at Santa Cruz Buell, musta been in '98, during the AMA/WSB races at Laguna Seca. Erik was on hand that day watching us, as was Scott Russell, Pascal Picotte, and Shawn Higbee (for a "Meet the Racers" autograph session). it was the smallest, tightest course i've ever ridden (on half of SCB's rather petite back parking lot), and i had to work the BLURR pretty hard to take the win (it didn't hurt that i was running a set of Michelin Pilot Race take-offs that had just come off the racetrack earlier that morning), and a trophy to stick on the shelf to show for the effort would mean a lot to me. They just might have one on a shelf with a minor imperfection or small bubble in the base collecting dust. (these days he awards, um, uh, how do i be charitable here? let's just say that the trophies you get THESE days are not as cool as the ones you USED to get...) the other trophy i'm missing was from an Old Highway 40 Motorcycle Days gig up at Donner Pass, at which i bested racer Cory Call for Top Time, and this one means a lot to me, too.
