Funny thing is I've actually used number 10 and it worked, lol.

Polite, Honest and a little humor got me out of trouble Sunday.

Got pulled over on Card Sound Rd. (kind of off the beaten path) after doing a little wheelie. Apparently a Trooper was sitting down the street in plain site behind me had I checked/been paying attention.

To top it off, he claimed to be the guy who started the whole new Fl. motorcycle laws. He took the idea to the rep. who sponsored it.

He was pretty pissed to start but I pulled over quickly, shut the bike off and dismounted.

He motioned to take my helmet off as he approached so I did.

As I was removing my helmet I was already apologizing for, "being stupid, I have no excuse, would have been off road in a minute or two, dumb, dumb, dumb etc..."

That is when he asked if I knew of the new law, to which I said, "Yes, I starts Oct. 1st Right?"

Trooper- "Yeah and I'm the guy who started that horrible law."

Me- (Thinking *&#@*) "It's not that bad a law." (Okay, that may have been not so honest a statement, but I was f*cked.)

Trooper- "Do you know what the penalty is?"

Me- "Death?... $1000.00" (The humor part. Though $1000 is the correct answer)

Trooper- "And if you had done another one I'd be taking the bike. Mind if I look through here?" (tail bag.)

Me- "No, go right ahead." (I was in the wrong with nothing to hide so I let him search despite my rights. I only stood to gain. Otherwise It would piss me off and should.)
He rummaged lightly, shook my cigarette box and asked if I smoke anything funny, but didn't even open the hard pack.
At some point, he said let's talk about the bike and I was half sure he meant what I wanted him to mean.

When he started with, "It's not quite a dual sport..." I knew I was okay and he meant what I hoped. I did mention the police uly while talking.

After chatting a while,(turns out the trooper rides and is pretty cool,) my friend who I had been following called to see if I had been arrested.

I told him I was fine and would be at the off road spot in a little bit. He had my dirt bike and his kid's bike in the truck as his dirt bike was in the shop.

After the call the trooper said something like, "I don't want to take up your whole day, I'll let you get going."

We were just chatting and I wasn't even in a hurry to leave at that point. Happy to not be getting a ticket or worse. Besides we were talking bikes, he has toured in Europe.

Later I realized he had never even asked for my license.

Glad I got that hair cut on Tuesday, not looking scruffy helps. They never cared much for the pony tail back in the day. (They can't have long hair and some would like to- told to me by a different cop.)

I also don't think it would have gone so well if I had been on my ZX10R.
Maybe it would have gone the same but I wonder if I would have gotten my first word out.

I think that was my last freebie.

Its never any good when the cop knows your name before you pull your helmet off, because they recognize your bike....

Plus I have sold to over half of the local LEOs. They all know me good and well.

I got stopped with the Big Kid this summer, he was riding a shop bike, a Honda VFR750, me the Blast, I just pulled hard into the left lane and hammered it up to about 75 when I saw the deputy slow hard and turn around. We pulled over and shut the bikes off and took off our helmets. As the deputy was walking up I started saying, Na, we weren't going that fast, I was just trying to keep up with the pretty chick in the Toyota with the Tennesse plates, she had on a real nice sundress that you could see her heart beat. We wern't going that fast, she must have been going 70......The deputy speaks up, Yep, she was going 70, you were going 76 and he was going 75, licenses please.

He took what paper we had back to the car and came back and said take it easy. I invited him for a coffee up the street, and the Big Kid offered him 10% on parts and we parted ways.

So I say the Bullshit approach works the best.

It really depends. In my experience if you're only going around 10 over it could go either way, regardless. However, if you were doing a crossed-up wheelie through an intersection most likely they'll have lost their sense of humor when you get pulled.

The best way I've discovered so far is get a genius who does runners to tag along.

The lights go off, brains high tails it and the rest of us smile and wave goodbye.

Don't you know that you are a shooting star...as long as you are....a shooting star....

I got stopped several years ago in my V-8 Mustang on a back road in Georgia on Super Bowl Sunday. I have talked my way out of a few tickets, but not this time. The cop must have been ticked he was working. He had the ticket mostly filled out by the time he walked up to my car. He asked for my license and about ten seconds later handed me the ticket and told me to sign it. Less than a minute later I was pulling out with a nice new ticket. He couldn't have even run me to see if I was wanted. He was efficient, though, I'll give him that.
