This one steals the basic idea, & almost carbon copies the instrument cluster.

This Honda version should be reason enough to sue them for copyright infringement.

That's a goddamn shame! Some people (or companies) are completely devoid of class or originality...

Imitation merely serves to increase (think 1987 Ford Taurus tail lights) the value of the genuine item.

Cute advertisements.

Ask yourself. . . "would I buy that?"

The riser/instrument cluster looks almost identical to the VROD's.

For them to pull a stunt like this, the VROD must be taking a big dent out of the Japanese $18,000+ heavy cruiser market. ;)

Speaking of ripoffs...

I would love to see Harley Davidson ripoff Louis DeNapels "Ghetto Blaster" V-Rod that is featured in the December issue of Cycle World.

Now isn't that something that a good number of us were chatting about a few months back on the BWB?

Remember the old Hushpuppies commercial where they show two Japanese guys holding a shoe and saying, "We can make it cheaper..., but we can't make it dumber"?

Ah and the Chinese have just put a man into space, won the motorcycle World Endurance crown and have two teams in WSB next year.

God help America when the Chinese come to Badweb

"God help America when the Chinese come to Badweb"

Don't we already have there wheels on the XB bikes.

Most of us now live in a world economy now, if the product, quality and price is right we buy it.

I know that my stock Dunlops have "made in Japan" on them, but I also wonder if the wheels are chinese?

And this matters why? The Japanese have made alot of money imitating other styles, and improving on the breed (in so far as reliability and performance). Why not other countries?

"Are they actually Chinese? "

I am led to belive they are made by a Japan Company working out of a China Foundry, but that is just what I heard.
Who cares anway they are just the best looking things I have seen in the Gold finish.

Still no XB12R yet it has been arriving for the last 3 weeks but not raised it's head yet.

Zongshen -China's largest m\c producer are entering a GSX R1000 in WSB next season but plans to enter in 2005 with their own 1000cc in-line four. Riders are Piergiorgio Bontempi and Warwick Nowland.

Zongshen started in 1992, entered endurance racing in 1998, won the title in 2002.

WSB series bosses have confirmed China will have their own round in the series within two years.

I actually like the looks of that Honda version.

I agree with Bomber. If they bring it here & its $4K less..probably even cheaper than that, they will sell no problems.

the VRod guys are not generally the die-hard HD guys (from what I've seen) . . . . .stands to reason that Honda could steal that market slice with sufficient fiscal enducements

That's science for you. . . the fact that Paul knows everything before I do!

I attribute it to the fact that 'tis Wednesday where he is and the evening news is just coming on where I am.

Yes....that's it....simple science.

Hmmm, I could have sworn I read somewhere WHO makes them and then found a place that sells other wheels from the same manufacturer and they were at least based in Australia... I'm probably wrong though...

I'm probably wrong but I believe the XB front lightweight cast wheel is made in Taiwan by the only shop they could find in the world who could build it to the specified technological requirements. One shop, one source. Best hope that the shop doesn't go away and that if anyone decides to second-source the wheels that the 2nd shop will be held to the same or better standards.

Maybe an anony will pipe in and either confirm or correct me.

V-Rod ripoffs. Both Honda & a Korean ...

If those are VROD ripoffs, what would the DOHC, liquid cooled, inline four, full fairing, 600cc Buell that JQ keeps whining for be??

A complete fabrication on your part, I have never said Buell had to build a 600cc liquid cooled four.

If they want to race in AMA supersport under the current rules, they can build a 600cc VTwin, or a triple, a V-four, or a square four.

If they want to race under World Supersport rules, they can go up to a 750cc Vtwin.

But either way, they need to build at least 500 street bikes to qualify.

Since they don't want to that, Formula Extreme is the best place for them right now, especially given the generous displacement limits and level of modifications that air cooled twins are allowed in that class.
