Here is a guide for buying a bike, lots of information for buying and selling a bike.

http://www.clarity.net/adam/buying-bike.html

I sold a Ninja 600 last year to a guy that said he wasn't used to such a small bike, since all he had ever ridden was Ducatis, Busas, blah, blah, blah. Paid cash and made it 75 ft before lowsiding into the side of the building. No test rides, cash sale, as is.

This is just not the time to be "BUDY BUDY" you have a profesional grade Racing type bike, and how many people are able to master this type of bike, at least at first? don't do it........dont do it, unless its paid for by the buyer or at least a large deposit is given you. Remember a Buell has alot of engine braking effect, which ofshore four's may not have, and it does take some off guard, in other words their more likely to do the "herky-jerky while taking off and decelerating, its a different animal. An "M" endorsment on their liscense is also some indication of their serriousness and evidence of their following protocol for owning a bike, if they dont have one theyre not responsable enough to ride your bike ....bottom line.
Best is NO TEST RIDES, but if you do let them ride, it is a 50/50 chance they will dump or crash, then where are you, mebe liable to them for letting them ride, and that is a fact! A CAN OF WORMS don't do it!

In my book ONLY the person who OWNS the bike rides it.

Didn't you spent part of your lap around the country letting people try out the bike?

Heres another prospect: HD will be buying MV Agusta if all goes as planed, so here you are............A one year old MV Senna 1000 for sale @ $22,000 yes thats what they bring......you goin'a give test rides? Your selling your Dodge Viper, you goin'a give test drives........you get the point......I hope.

Yup, sounds good to me. If they want to see it run, maybe I'll take it up and down the street for them. Thanks again for all the help.

That is correct and, as a result, a number of folks who had never previously heard of Buells purchased S2's.

I knew and was willing to take the risk.

There are lots of folks now I would allow to ride my bikes (in fact Dave Gess will be on one as we do our mid-night tour of Manhattan Cheesecake and Coffee spots) but I know the risks.

Selling a bike is a much different dynamic.

A few years back Dad's neighbor had a Road King for sale. A clean cut gentleman showed up in a newer Silverado. He kicked tires and talked price before asking for a test ride. The neighbor thought he a good feel for the man and allowed him the test ride. For hours later he called the police. They ran the VIN on the truck only find it was stolen. After the story hit the Asheville newspaper police investigators started checking other communities and found this scam had been pulled several times by the same guy.
