And just changed the oil and put on my Jardine slip-on. Damn i thought the full race exhaust was loud on my X1 this freakin think sounds like drag pipes. I Kinda don't like it but the hooligan in me the screams i do. Also have a quick question i took it out ran it at 3000 RPM for 15 mins. The freaking thing has awesome pull with no hesitation just when i leave off it back fires a lot could this be fix with an after market ECU when available or do i need the optional tip that goes on the end of the slip-on? I'm sure the tip will silence it a bit and give more back preasure so i'm leaning toward this as a fix.

Wait your 09 has 50k miles on it? If not it aint broke in : )

Yes, once some kind of tuning becomes available for the 08+, you can remove the popping : )

The popping is caused by a lean condition on decel. Assuming you have no exhaust or intake leaks, you can tune it out mostly, though you'll likely always have some. The tip you put in will probably help, but won't fix it entirely.

How do you check for intake leaks on an XB? I checked my exhaust header nuts and header to can connection and everything is snug, I'd like to check the intake though.

This only works when the leaks are bad enough to cause the engine to run poorly - not just pop out the muffler.

But with the engine running, you spray some WD-40 on all the gasketed surfaces - manifold to head and manifold to throttle body. If the engine smooths out momentarily, you have a leak.

If the bike just runs like crap and feels lean, but seems to idle okay keeping you from checking it like this, my first guess would be intake seals. I've had to replace them on my Buell and my Sportster within 1000 miles or so of owning them.
