I found an error on the Buell site.

I found an error on the Buell site:
Go to http://www.buell.com/en_us/
Click on XB12Scg.
Click on the blue Features option.

Scroll down to the Power section

The first hyperlink in the Power section is the line "1203cc of Thunderstorm Engine"

In the first line of that paragraph it says "The Thunderstorm 984 cc, 45-degree V-Twin…”
"So which is it, 984cc or 1203cc.

Guess some one ought to tell the webmaster at Buell.

Looks to me like some one just did a copy and paste when they were putting the text together. Not a big deal but us anal retentive types see this kind of stuff all the time.

Edited because I had a typo too

It will be taken care of promptly, just got off the phone with him. Thanks!

Badweb has played a HUGE role in finding and correcting these. Imagine the plight of the poor gal in Chicago typing all this stuff when it arrives 4 days before it is to be posted and there are 143 pages of facts a figures.

As of last year Buell put in place a damned good procedure for quickly getting this info to the right place.

Thanks again and keep'em, coming!

Court,

Please ask them to implement a login/password resend that only requires that you supply your email address. I do not log in frequently enough to remember my login let alone the password.

Also, a way to kill a login. I have at least two with the site because one of the site upgrades made our logins/info incompatible.

Actually, no. I met a guy last week who's with an ad agency who works with HD/Buell and they aren't the same ones working with the web page.

I found another error on the Buell web site.

The XB12X isn't available in Australia and NZ.

This is correct and an error all at the same time.

Sob...sniff....I can't afford a new one anyway....sniff.

Zane:

I am certain your are right . . . you start going through what appears to be the very same list of specs over and over it'd be an easy miss. Be mindful that the folks who enter this data and good folks, they are not the engineers and may not even be riders. If they read something like a 24 gallon fuel capacity it's likely not move their meter.

The cool part about this is that Badweb is largely composed of anal retentive geeks and we catch this stuff. Buell has enabled a process that puts them closer to their customer than any company I have ever been aware of.

Last year folks spotted a whole handful of stuff, turned them in here and it was quickly taken care of.

Just how cool is that?

Thanks again for the "heads up" and for placing your confidence in Buell.

Does anal retentive (or anal-retentive) have a hyphen?

(hint: there IS an answer to this age-old question)

Actually Slaughter is right. According to Merriam-Webster there is a hyphen. I wasn't sure so I had to look it up.

Does that mean I don't get my free Buell????

From another anal retentive geek - I've found a few discrepancies on the Australian/NZ site (buell.com/en_au) too.

1. On the "Contact Us" page the brochure request link brings up the info request form for Buell UK.

2. For 2009 the XB12R is noted as 103hp while the other XB's (SS and XT) are noted as 94hp (Euro spec?). This could be right, but would seem strange that one model would be U.S. spec and two models Euro spec.

Court - I've sent a note to H-D/Buell Australia about both of these last week, but if you want to pass this on that would be great : )

DD - Yeah, I noticed, only five models for '09, no XB9SX again either... don't get me started...

>>>Court - I've sent a note to H-D/Buell Australia

They are all done by the same folks here, let me see if I can summarize this.

It helps if folks, when they post this stuff, clearly state "what page" and the presumed error as Dave has done.

If this helps - in the "Bikes" summary page it shows:
XB12R 103HP @6800 RPM, 84ft.lbs. @6000 RPM (U.S. spec)
XB12XT 94hp/95PS/70kW @6800 RPM, 84ft.lbs. @6000 RPM (Euro hp, U.S. torque)
XB12Ss 94hp/95PS/70kW @6800 RPM, 104Nm/77ft.lbs. @5500 RPM (Euro spec)

In the "Overview" and "Specs" pages for each model the figures are the same as listed above, so it is at least consistent.
