Am i the only one who hates the low beam? That stupid a$$ half pie shape light that lights up about 30 feet in front of me and just barely covers the road. I have to run with the high beam on all the time ( it could be a little better to) to feel safe at night time riding. Is there any upgrade to the firebolt lights that shine a wider and longer distance? I have adjusted but still do not like them. This is my only complaint with my new buell.

check the headlight adjustment front axle 25ft from a wall make marks on the wall 32-34 inches from the ground and adjust til the top of the beams cut off is in the middle of the marks on the wall be sure to be sitting on the bike when you check the alignment turn the screw clockwise to lower and counter-clockwise to raise same with the highbeam put the center of the beam on the marks on the wall makes a huge difference when they are adjusted correctly

Ok, it's not a recall.
They're calling it a revision.
Details are here.

I just bought a 2009 firebolt i doubt there is a recall already. Sorry for not mentioning that in my original post. But Froggy checked my profile to see what year i had. I guess i will just have to try and re-adjust them again.

Paw:

I just got a new Buell and the first thing (actually 3rd) that is going are the stock headlights.

You can thank the United States Government. . . .the headlights meet all requirements prescribed.

In my opinion they are not fit for speeds in excess of 20MPH.

I'm going with H.I.D.

It's the XBR that has reflector issues.
I'm sure they meet light requirements when new.
It's that the "Chrome" coated plastic degrades rather quickly on the older R models.
Rather quickly meaning within a month of use.
I've seen it, it ain't pretty

I've got LOTS to say . . . . . this is the first time I have EVER ridden a Ulysses. It was a neat surprise.

Paw,

You can disassemble the lamp and remove the "spoon" shaped light deflector and that will improve the low beam light output.

Very nice. Glad they found something in your size and taste. I never seem to be that lucky and spend my time in return lines.

This ain't getting returned. . . . even, just as I come up on 1,000 miles, I can say this is the best Buell I've ever ridden.

Fits too . . but it is a TALL bike!

Removing the "spoon" only puts more light out to the front and does not improve the low beam by putting more light on the road below the cut-off point where it counts.

Where it does put out more light is glare in oncoming driver's eyes which, if they are, say, over 50 years old, will cause them to secretly curse at you even if they don't flash their high beams. That makes your headlight illegal. Don't do it.

I simply removed my low beam housing and replaced it with another high beam housing. I replaced both bulbs as well with SilverStars. I pointed the lights down just a tab to keep them out of on coming driver's eyes. It's much much better than before. If you got the cash HIDs are the way to go. They don't microwave the housings. And are pretty easy to install.

An HID low beam, including an auxilliary harness, can be done for under $200.
$125-150 if you look hard enough.
