Don't want to rub it in but I'm leaving in 17 (yeah, I've been counting down since yesterday) minutes for a 1300 mile, 3 day ride down the dragon, up Blue Ridge and across Skyline Dr. I'll take all the prayers I can get for clear skies and if anyone is in the area and sees a nuke blue and CF X1 pull me over and say hey. I'll try and post up some pics when I get back. 16 mins, I better get my jacket on.

Don't forget to hit the Cherohala Skyway while you are there. It's worth the trip.

That'll be a great ride, but your schedule will be tight. From the bottom of the BRP to the top of the Skyline Drive is two good days of riding, and you'll need another day to get back home. I'd advise you to take an extra day off so you can enjoy the scenery a bit.

I'd start in Tellico Plains, ride the Cherohala all the way to 129, go north up the Dragon, turn around and go back down, then head out toward the BRP on 28.

Leave yourself some time to get off and do some hiking in the Shenandoah if you can. The Skyline Drive is 110 miles of 35 mph, so it isn't an exciting ride, but there's lots of nature to see.

AAHHHHH! GOT CUT SHORT!

We were making wonderful time, down 75 slayed the dragon and were sitting down to lunch at Deals Gap by 1:00. Had some weird noises when we left the gap and was acting weird coming up the Dragon but it was running fine and the noises were intermittent. Left Bryson City and headed up the Blue Ridge when it started popping loudly. I pulled in the clutch and it died instantly. I got it to the side of the road and had the seat off by the time my buddy turned around and came back. The temp dip stick read 250 which is much hotter than it's ever been, hit the starter, no go. To make a long story short I coasted it down to Maggie Valley (2 miles and 55mph at one time) got a hotel room and my wonderful parents came 300 miles to pick me up today. It will start but it sounds horrible and I quickly cut it off. I'm out for the season and it will be a long time re-build but like the Million Dollar Man, we can re-build it, we have the technology, nanananana nananana. I have to pull the jugs anyway to replace the base gasket and I pray that's as far as I have to pull it apart. I'm thinking a little valve train work maybe some hotter cams. I'd like to massage about 90 - 95 hp at the rear tire. It's currently about 85 so it won't take much.

Sorry but there won't be any pics unless you want to see the self taken one of me on a rock waiting for help to arrive. Thanks for the prayers too, I couldn't have asked for better weather to coast in.
