Just got the word that a "friend" of mine was killed in a hit and run today in Austin Texas on his motorcycle.
He was the lead singer of the bands "Two Timin Three" and more recently "Two Timin Four"

If you're into rockabilly or roots rock you've surely heard them.

(KXAN) -- Austin police located the pickup truck believed to be responsible for the fatal motorcycle accident Thursday morning.

Police said sometime before 5 a.m., a blue GMC pickup traveling northbound on Highway 183 slammed into the motorcyclist and ejected him from the vehicle, killing him.

The motorcycle was dragged by the truck before coming to rest at the intersection of Lamar Boulevard and Highway 183, about one mile away from the initial collision.

Police said the motorcyclist seemed to have been following the rules of the road, as he was maintaining a safe speed and was wearing a helmet.

The road was reopened around 7:30 a.m. after the northbound lanes of Highway 183 between Lamar Boulevard and Burnet Road were shut down.

Traffic on northbound Highway 183 was being diverted to the frontage road close to Burnet Road.

The driver of the pickup has not been found nor has the name of the victim been released.

Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact the APD Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-4724.

The driver should be sentenced to a public flogging with rubber hoses by 200 motorcycle riders.

RIP My condolences to the family and grieving friends. 200 lashings with a hose simply isnt enough. IMHO

You misread my post. I'm advocating lashes from 200 riders until their arms are limp or until the driver is.

Sorry to hear that. I used to live in Austin and know all those streets...lots of great roads for riding but lots of trucks on the road as well. I hope they deal with the bastard Texas style...
