can anybody tell me if an S3 swingarm is the same as an M2 is the same as an X1.i want to swap my steel swingarm on my 98 S1w for an ali unit.Don i need to change the isolators or spindles..anything i need to know before i purchase said swingarm off the net..is there any written info on how to carry out such a mod or is it straight forward....????? cheers guys | ||

Look in the Old School forum for instructions. I know they are interchangeable, just not sure of which parts, if any need to be swapped. If you get a good deal on the Aluminium swing arm, pick it up. You may want to consider polishing it or even having it chromed before you install it, they look nice that way. | ||

You will need the swingarm, axle adjusters and hardware, axle, and rear fender (if you want one) You will also have to grind the swingarm to engine mount a bit to get it all to work. All the models you listed used the same swingarm and mounting block. Might want to get the newer block too if you can. How old are your iso's? Good time to swap out with new ones, also might want to think seriously about upgrading/updating the drive belt, if it's original, while you're tearing the back end off. | ||

Sidders, I to want to do the switch. I have a 98 M2 Cyclone and have access to a 2000 S1 aluminum swingarm/block etc. complete, the entire assembly. How did it go for you or if you didn't swap yet what can you tell me about what you found out? Did you infact have to grind/fit the block? Or for that matter any info for this swap, from BWB members or friends would be very welcome. I think that Tubers will soon be a very sought after unit, and are currently under appreciated, sort of like a 55 Chevy was a decade ago. ...Rich......... |
