I have noticed in most track pictures of motorcycles they always have blue tape over the headlights and turn signals. What is the purpose of this?

The blue tape is used because it won't leave a residue and doesn't rip paint off when peeled back off.

Don't know why you have to them taped up though..

Painters Tape, 3m's best product to date imo.

At the last track day, there were like 25 crashes.

One of the bikes hit the outside wall hard enough to bounce into the infield.

It saves time in reducing or eliminating the need for track workers to sweep up broken glass and plastic.

Yes I do know what the tape is. I was curious as to its use. And to contain glass plastic shards from seperating is a good reason. I didn't think of that.

Thanks for the answer.

Yeppiree - almost every track day operator that I've ever heard about requires removing or taping over lights, license plate, reflectors.

If you EVER wonder why everybody uses 3M Safe Release tape, just leave a piece of duct tape or regular masking tape exposed to the sun for a day... you'll see why. The sun "burns on" normal tape. 3M Safe Release strips off nicely. Worth the money.

My profanity budget can't pay for the language I need to strip off duct tape or regular masking tape residue.

Out, of course.

Nothing like running through a basketball game and coming out with some cheerleaders stuck to you.

Make sure you buy the 3M stuff.

The "harbor freight" chinese stuff is crap. I know, I'm painting my new to me house, and I bought 2 rolls of the cheap stuff. Just to see if my friends were full of it. I'm going right now to go re-paint.

Buy the 3M.
