Since so many folk are building "Mutant" Buell "choppers" or such, there ought to be a site here for "leftovers" exclusivly, yes I know theres the classifieds, but a section called "Leftovers" would likely be a hit. List the year and the stuff left over, that way mebe more usable items would show up for us dedicated Tuber Fans to score.

I havent seen many mutant builders post here.
Maybe because this is a site for Buell "enthusiasts" and those that build chops out of them arent really in that category...or cause they know they'll get a verbal beatdown for raping such a great machine.
Damn dirty organ harvesters.
lol.

With tubers becoming rare there will be more and more based on XB's. No better, but at least they are still in production.

its too bad they dont have a save the tuber foundation. It could be like a museum of sorts or a place that buy and resale tube frame bikes only too people who really want buells and not people who want to disect them

I guess you could always resuscitate one with a Spondon frame kit.

I saw an old episode of "American Thunder" from around 2006. They were at Bike Week and interviewed a guy who was building Buell choppers. He was very enthusiastic about how cheap you could pick up a Buell and chop it up. I wonder what happens to all of those unused frames and parts?

Those parts end up in my garage... just kidding. Actually I have purchased 2 full body sets for my M2 super cheap. One got donated to the track after an oops. I always keep my eye open for a deal. Did you know a new tail section can be over $500 at the dealer? I purchased two on eBay for less then $75 a piece. Since i plan on keeping my M2 forever, it is nice to know I will have those hard to find pieces in 20 years. I concentraite on purchasing parts that are Buell specific. I don't worry about engine parts as there will be sportsters around to steal from forever!

Whoa!!! anyone have the specs on that Spondon frame? It looks tight, really short wheelbase.
I looked up their website but it's extremely spartan, he he.

But, back on topic, buell chopper builders are not usually welcome around here. I'm betting that less than .01% of the items swapped and sold here are chopper left-overs. I doubt that many of those guys even know about BadWeB and fewer still would post here.

I guess I will chime in here... Don't take me wrong here guys...I love my Buells and I have had a million memories on them. But what is a guy to do when he has a one off, top of the line parts list, and one of the highest hp street motors built to date and someone in the Buell world says... ah...that is only worth $4000-5000 bucks. That is bull@#$. I have more than that in my engine.

Not everyone can keep their toys forever and if a chopper guy is willing to pay what a bike is worth and the buell community isn't... tuff cookies:-)

Sure I would love to see someone I have posted and talked with for many years end up with my bike so I can see it live on per say, but money talks and I have a stay at home mom and 3 kids to feed. If I need to get a more family oriented bike to take the family members on a ride(vrod, dyna, etc) then it is off to the highest bidder:-)

Just my 2 cents worth... by the way anyone interested in my Killer Tuber:-)

130+hp and full of goodies!

Respectfully
Frank

The only spec I remember is a 54" wheelbase.
I believe the steering geometry was fairly conventional.
Airtech built this one with an S&S 100"

It doesn't matter what vehicle it is, money spent on aftermarket, performance, and labor is generally lost unless it's one with national notoriety. I like to say that it's about smiles per mile, not money

I've put an unreasonable amount of money into mine as well and made it so ugly nobody could love it but me.

Oh I hear ya but when a chopper guy wants to buy my motor for 4k and a bueller wants to buy my complete bike for the same... then I am parting the baby out:-)

As a chop builder/ owner (see profile) and the owner of and S1 and S1W, I find the entire thread very interesting. If so many want to save the tubers you better have cash in hand and be faster then me LOL. I am of the opinion that if I am able to take a previous Bueller's "worn out/ old technology" bike and build something that I want to ride so be it. Oh yes I have tired to sell parts via the BadWeb what a PITA, people wanting low ball you on parts prices and it is a hassle overall, now it all goes on EGay rather then the hassle of here. As one of the "vultures" I am happy to use all the old tubers and give them new life.

Several respected people here on the Badweb have seen my work and feel I have the Buell doner bike very proud. At the same time I feel that some chop builders do build some real trash on wheels and that puzzles me as well.

Fester, I gotta tell ya that is actually a very cool looking bike. My one and only bike needs to serve too many uses, (Commuter, Tourer, Corner Carver), so I could never really have a bike like that as my only ride.
I see your point about rescuing worn out bikes. Same as cars I guess. I would rather see someone take a classic and drop it, customize it..whatever, rather than having it crushed and lost forever.

There is nothing more worn out/old than the rigid chopper craze.
