They've got a deal on OnGuard Beast Chains on Ebay. I was thinking of getting the 4' 14mm chain, but then found out that even the Kryptonite Fuggedaboutit chain can be cropped. i can't find much info on cropping the OnGuard Beast 14mm. I was planning on using it with a pager alarm and cover. Anyone know about the OnGuards croppability? The only chain I've found on google thats uncroppable is some British chain called Almax Immobiliser III thats almost $300.00

Chains and cable locks are obsolete due to these, if they want it they're gonna take it.

Spend your money on insurance.

guys check these out they have give money back if your bike is stolen and the lock is defeated. Being a locksmith I know the only thing you are buying is extra time to prevent theft.

Or get an ElectraGlide. They are big enough that even three guys would have trouble getting it into a van.

The anti-theft devices are just there so the guys who aren't that serious about it won't steal it. Years ago a buddy of mine had a Volkswagen GTI he has spent a good deal of money customizing. He used one of those steering wheel locks call the Club. They had a guarantee that if your car was stolen they would pay your deductible. Well, at least they kept their promise. The thieves left my buddy's car a few blocks away sitting on blocks with an stripped out interior. They did leave the Club in two pieces on the floor. It made it easier to prove he had been using it at the time of the theft.

Another theft prevention method is to always park your bike around nicer more expensive ones so that yours won't look so good to the thieves.

How will the know the lock was defeated if they never recover the bike??

If the thieves cut the pole you attach it to does that count?

I would park with harleys, but I'm talking about parking at my house during nightime. It used to be a nice blue-collar neighborhood, now its filled with section-8, drug addicts and hookers. Thats why I worry. Not many professional thieves I'd say, but desperate ones. There are alotta auto shops, which is why I worry these people have readily available tools laying around.

New12r easiest way to defeat the Masterlock bike cuffs is to drill out the lock ,its a cylinder lock. you can't shim it like the regular human police cuffs. Cut the pole?? The only thing that sucks about the big bike cuffs are they are heavy and bulky to pack. K

I wondered if thieves were starting to use portable oxy-actylene. That'd be tough to stop.

You guys can get LoJack for motorcycles too. Not a theft deterrent, exactly, but they have a great recovery rate.

And yes, by the way, we do install LoJacks here at liberty. : ) BUT that's not why I mention it! We install them here because we feel it's a good investment.

Just throwin' that out there.

This reminds me of the time my brother and I had sword fights with Christmas wrapping paper tubes..."onguard you dirty bastard", were his words war...then my mom beat the bejesus out of him with a spatula.

I was going to use the Onguard beast chain to lock to a tree or the railings in the backyard, along with the "Spy" pager alarm clone on ebay, an ebay Durashield cover and cable lock for the cover. I know no one will touch it in daylight, and at night hopefully the chain, cover and alarm will be enough. If not, the pager will let me know and the thieves are going to know the shock trauma section of the Johns Hopkins hospital real well.

My coworker just told me whats best as well. Even though I'm worried about my bike, i think the steps I said above will be good. Plus its only worth 5500 plus parts, insurance will take care of it. Its not a 30,000 dollar Harley or a dime a dozen R6 so I'm guessin the chances of theft are lower.

Bobby, in Baltimore city dirt bikes and pocket rockets are the most likely to get stolen. I live in the city too just south of the Stadiums in southern district. There is a local bike storage off of route 1 called cycle vault. The guy who owns it is a motorcycle mechanic and used to work were I work full time now. Check it out if you have no place to store it for the winter. K

Stainless Steel stops the torch, the grinder still cuts it
but Oxy cant.

if the chain were covered in a material that would not burn and would fowl the grinding blade it might be a de-turrent

oxy-actylene you guys are tough. I use carbide whole saws and drill tips to cut into black label GSA safe and Diamond tip drill bits for red label safes. I have yet to weld a cut I made. I like my bike cuffs. K

Doesn't stop the freon or liquid nitrogen...

daddy always said a lock is there to keep an honest man honest.

Got a real good story for ya. At the MMI in Az it was a hot bed for MC theft.

They caught a group that was using a large Uhaul type truck with a roll up door.

The cut the floor out and welded the bumpber to the roll up so the rear looked complete. They then lifted up the door, backed up so the bike was in the false floor. Then X amount of guys picked up the bike and placed it to the front of the truck and off they went. All the time in the world to defeat your lock...

they steal mini vans here in Maryland and remove the seats to steal bikes. I had a friend who had her mini van stolen, it came back everything ripped out except the driver seat.

Dang. That stuff is wild! Torches and all that, i thought the protable grinders and croppers were the worst to look out for. I doubt I'll be finding any of those here, I'm mostly worried about the gangs (Bloods, MS-13) that I know are in my area, and of course the junkies/hookers that regulary offer me DVDs and other crap they stole outta cars/houses. I'm not worried about pros,, but some gangbanger or junkie with a hacksaw. the more I think about it, the more crazy its gonna drive me. I'll get the Beast chain, locking cover and alarm and be done with it. Next place we move to I'm getting a big dog (American bulldog, German Sheperd, Boxer) with a doggy door.I think I'll be really straight then.

I have two dogs and a doggy door. My bike is looked in a detach garage of sorts. it's about the size of a 1 car garage, but it only has a normal door, no garage door.

I'm worried about my bike at work. It's normally parked out back, but right near the rear door which is open most of the time. there's also a video camera back their.

Are buells stolen often? I don't live in a large city, so I doubt we have pros here.
