Was up the Hawks nest this weekend with Hammeroid this dude asks about the buells says he owned one then says he works for corprate Aprillia and tells us Erik was given his pink slip from the mother ship.
I aint buying it but anyone in the know I'd like to here anything.
PS He did have a mille with like 1" chicken stripes on each side of the tires seemed more interested in hearing himself talk but some info he gave and names he dropped I would say he works for Aprillia but thats about it.
Anyway I am interested to hear from anyone who can put this to rest or embelish a wee bit.
Dave

Come celebrate our 25th, ok now go home were done?!? as if, sounds like he doesnt like the competition. If you have ever Talked to Erik, you will know he is excited and passionate about bikes, he will always be doing it,

(maybe just without the Juneau way mother ship) Sounds like an nasty rumor to me though.

And I heard today that an image of the Virgin Mary appeared on a tree in Canada.

I haven't converted.

I would question how someone who works for Aprilia would have information in that regards.

Seems an unlikely event that the CTO of Buell would be given a pinkslip after the 25th anniversary of the company that bears his name.

That dude was talking nonsense. I guarantee if EB resigns/retires/dies/is fired we won't hear about it first from some Aprilia honcho.

My suspicion is that Buell will be getting much more independence from Harley corporate as the number of bike sales climbs. The mothership and Buell have less and less in common and more independence is the logical outcome. With the purchase of MV Agusta Harley has aquired real expertise in boutique marketing, altho not very successful, in europe where half of Buell sales are.

The future is always different from the past and lessening the heavy hand of HD corporate makes a lot of sense right now.

Sounds to me as if this gentleman was giving you a load of excreta suitable only for the fertilization of large fields.

Anyone high up enough in the company to have knowledge of executive level HR issues not already public would be smart and discreet enough to not be repeating them to total strangers. If he really does work for the company the guy is probably some mail clerk wanna be.

Look at all the milestones in the last 15 years. Get rid of the driving genius behind it all now. NOW? I'm not in the know, but I know that sounds completely bat$#it.

The band Elwood, the band.

He wasn't saying that buell is finished, just that it will not be with HD for much longer.

IIRC some time this year buell was quoted as saying:

"We are just getting started."

I guess their still pissed that old man Buell got his name stamped on the cases, and all of the old Aprillias are running around with rotax stamped on the cases.

If Erik is finished with Buell, Buell is finished.

Unless the XR1200 is the new Buell.

Maybe the tuber guys have gotten what they have wanted all along.

"The mothership and Buell have less and less in common and more independence is the logical outcome."

As long as Buell is making money they have more and more in common. Don't let Buell's success sway you into thinking, "out of site, out of mind" in Harley's eyes.

If Erik is finished with Buell, Buell is finished.

You make it sound like Erik is a one man show. If Erik retired and that day could come one day. You can count on it that there is some very very talented, ingenius designers engineers to still bring you products that we'll all know to love.

Hmm, you realize the blues mobile in Buell land would be the XB12XP. The new "Our Lady of Blessed Acceleration".

There's a lot of room in this mall.

Well, thats not entirely correct. Bein a Canadian and all, Im up on these things. The image is that of Virgin Ruby, who, I have on good authority is no longer a virgin. Old Tom Tookalook, the eskimo
peeping tom must got lucky.

It's got a cop motor, a 1203 cc plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks, 103 hp it was a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. Whaddya say? Is it the new Blues Mobile or what?

If I worked for Aprilia I think I would want to see EB leave Buell. Maybe he is trying to convince himself as well.

I've seldom, in 38 years of being in business, ever received accurate information from a person who has something bad to say or simply revels in gossip.

I come to treat information from such sources in a fitting fashion.

Dana brings up an excellent point. Today may not be the day EB steps away, but it will happen. From what I see from Buell there's a great pool of talent that will carry on his name.

Who is second man on the CTO totem pole?
