I guess you don't have bugs in the North West? We were rolling though neighborhoods. Not a huge amount of speed, so the few bugs that were there didn't stick | ||

In S/E Kansas-S/W Mo. the grasshoppers are sized between Hummingbird and Dove and they damn sure smart if you happen to have your shield up and catch one. | ||

on slow rolling through residential neighbourhoods, then We are talking about sub 45mph twisty up and down roads, that happen to follow the shoreline. Very much like riding in CA. Even if we were on a highspeed sweeper road, I wouldn't of pushed it. His is an italian crusier that is just over break in period, and mine has less than ideal rubber (soon to be fixed). Most of us don't need to go to a race track to understand if we like a bike. | ||

??? Who mentioned racetracks, and who said California roads are 45 mph???? less-than-ideal rubber is de rigeur for many of us, after a few weeks, doesn't slow us down, much. I wasn't attacking your post, but, merely stating that slow, RESIDENTIAL putts do not a strong comparison/contrast test ride make. | ||

Hey Tramp, it was a "first impressions" posting, not a thorough magazine ready article. Sheesh, lighten up or I might have to accuse you of being a troll.  There is no comparison between the two bikes. The XB9 is a bike designed to be ridden hard and cornered low to really appreciate what Erik hath wrought. It was the best bike I ever owned but it was far more bike than I was capable of exploiting. The Guzzi 750 is also not a perfect bike. The seat needs a gel insert for longer rides. But the Nevada fits my current needs/wants in a motorcycle. And its a cool change of pace from Buell, but not that far off in overall philosphy of the owners/designers of the companies. Again, my reason for starting the thread was to document how/why a dedicated Buell owner since 2000 left the fold and embraced an Italian company. An updated thumper would probably find its way into the garage next to the Nevada. | ||

dbird- reread this thread- i didn't bust the new motorcycle onwer's ball, i busted those of the Bueller with whom he rode, for making judging a scoot's riding on it's 45 mph residential performance, and then likening 45 mph riding riding to being "very much like riding in ca." | ||

I was surprised to read in the most recent issue of Classic Bikes (I think I got the title right) that a 1976 850 LeMans Moto Guzzi beat a same year 900 SuperSport Ducati in engine performance. The big surprise was that the Guzzi's handling didn't seem truckish compared to the more race inspired (totally race inspired actually) Ducati. Granted, it was a comparison of 30 year old motorcycles (who knows what state of tune they were in), but it was still an interesting read. | ||

You KNOW I'm busting chops, right Professor? I suppose I should know that, but sometimes I forget. No worries. Turns out the original old-school Yuasa battery was defective (one cell was dead) so the shop gave me a Yuasa AGM battery, so new that I got to put the acid stuff in the cells (first time but easy to do, btw) and let it sit before charging overnight on the Tender Plus. 65 mile ride this morning and all is well in Guzzi-prof-land. You know, having twin exhaust tips really makes for some nice music! Check out the "Latin" logo on the top of the license plate bracket.  |
