************easy on the throttle in first and second gear!!!!******** second, you'll wanna set-up your suspension settings if your gonna be rididng 2-up for twisties, or any long period of time. when i don't... turns feel wobbily, and any pot-hole, or road hazard is twice as bad. or you could keep it on the lawn for the kiddies (see my profile pic) | ||

I've ridden two up on my city-x for many miles on long trips through Colorado, and Arizona. Definitly make sure you have the suspension set up for the weight, and include the weight of your gear! | ||

First thing to remember is that you want to ride your PASSENGER'S ride, not your own. Easy on the launches, and try to anticipate the stops so you don't do anything too sudden. You'll have less ground clearance, so ease up on the cornering, too. The more she enjoys it, the more she'll want to do it again. Unless, of course, you don't want her back there. www.viberyder.com (probably not safe for work) Dont know about on the bueller, I use the sporty for riding two up. And that has limits, eying the FXDF for a bit more comfort. its as big as I will ever get in my garage. | ||

i had Amanda, then Jackie, read the Two Up chapter in Total Control before we went for a ride. If she doesn't trust you 100% it's not going to be cool. Neil, don't be so modest. You hung with me on the way to dinner during Badness. It wasn't the most spirited ride, but you kept pace with a group of people ride singly | ||

I've ridden as passenger on the back of a CityX a zillion times. Just don't launch from a stop-or at least let her know to hang on! and remember you are going to get a little "crushed" on stops, esp. downhill ones, if you don't take 'em kinda slow. It's a little freaky back there when I can't really see what's coming ahead- just remember she's back there and don't do anything too erratic. Badlions- Good luck, and hope you get some =) | ||

Don't forget to have the "passenger peg" talk. You need to let you passenger know when it is safe to put their feet down. I once had a passenger that decided it would be best to help steady the bike. The unexpected weight transfer nearly caused me to dump it. From then on legs always up unless I tap them, signaling it is ok to put them down. If it is a newbie to motorcycles, make sure you have an extra set of ear plugs. The experience is scary enough without all the noise. | ||

i did get spanked pretty good though thumper by and older guy on a roadking when riding with jerry and a bunch of other's for jim's ride up in north carolina. but in my defense i was on a new xt in the hills with the wife on the back for basically the first time. now had i been on the m2 maybe i wouldn't have felt so inferior. bads, just tell her to hang on and enjoy the ride. unless you have the uly, then she can just sit back and enjoy the ride. | ||

there, fixed it for you. :-) Denise is quite the passenger. I think Diane is also. First thing to remember is that you want to ride your PASSENGER'S ride, not your own. Absolutely! I feel for M2nc when we're riding with folks like FB&D or Nevrenuf and Diane. I'm not as comfortable with the lean as Denise or Diane are. I'm trying and seem to be getting a little better with each ride. Good luck and have fun! Also, don't forget basic passenger gear. | ||

Weight is a big deal I was up on the Blue Ridge and gave one of my cousins a ride no problems doing 50 than I gave one of her friends who was a little bigger a ride. I did not want to ask but I was guessing she was 10 pounds heaver than me. I could not believe how the bikes handling went to shit still doing 50 but it felt like I was doing 70 in the corner. So I would not recommend any twisties with a girl who is heaver than you. | ||

I love riding two up, and I hardly notice the passenger. Adjust your suspension and tell your girl not to lean at low speed. Ask her to look over your right shoulder in right hand corners and your left shoulder in left handers, and that will get her body weight correct. | ||

Be smooth. If you're banging helmets, you're not being smooth enough. If you're riding two up, you're pretty much there to see the scenery and feel the wind blow. Corners that are fun for the driver are terrifying for the pillion. For the first ride explain about leaning and not to lean the other way. Go down the street and demo the brakes a few times with increasing degrees of deceleration. Stop each time you do and ask her if she is doing ok. | ||

I wish I was like you Sanchez. I absolutely can't stand having a passenger. I just don't enjoy it. I guess I'm selfish that way.  Seventeen years ago in high school it was fine for obvious reasons. I've given 1 ride in the past 15 years. The passenger pegs are always the first to go. |
