I've never been to china, so I can't make statements such as "That's one filthy place..." While i have heard a wide array of accounts of the country from many friends who spend much time there (positive and negative), I think it's wisest to reserve second-hand judgements. I am always reminded of questions my cohorts in Warsaw-pact countries used to ask me, back before the wall came down. Questions like "Does the KKK really run the government in every town in America?" and "Does the American bourgeoisie still keep slaves on secret tobacco plantations?", etc., were de rigeur conversation-starters. More importantly, we have some Chinese brothers and sisters on Badweb, with whom we share our bond of motorcycle brother/sisterhood. Why alienate or insult them with such vitriol? Instead of lamenting the negatives likely offered by the far east, let's celebrate, instead, the positives that our own free republic has to offer. ...you know...like ....Buells  | ||

I don't care about ANY sport someone else is playing. It has NO effect on me, my job, my family, or friends. So why should I care? However, I do enjoy watching the occasional motor race. That relay was great! That is the type of competition that you want to see in the Olympics. I thought it was kind of funny how the smack-talkin French team had that blank, deer in the headlights look on their faces when it was over.  | ||

I've heard that about India, never been there, though. I can say that the Indian folks I met, who made up the majority of the residents of the Fiji Islands, when I was there in the '80s, were awfully dirty folks. I think most countries are like the blind men and the elephant, and have both clean and skanky areas... I have to say, I have ended up watching much more than I anticipated (the girlfriend is a big fan, so if nothing is on TV, the Games come on). I've watched a lot of swimming, a little gymnastics, a good bit of volleyball, some water polo and a little bit of boxing. | ||

I've experienced this kind of pollution and I never want to again.. I was Stationed in Okinawa for a year while in the Marine Corps.. I went south Korea for 3 weeks, in the morning you would cough up black Gunk it was just disgusting... I have nothing against the people, I feel bad for the people, Their government doesn't do enough to control private enterprise. Like a proper EPA You think if I would never visit china that I would want to go to india..  My Coworker Just got back, I've seen the pictures trust me not on my list.. Hiding a little girl who sang the national anthem because she wasn't cute enough. Splicing in shots of fireworks that were prerecorded to be broadcast worldwide. Apparent use of underaged athletes in the female gymnastics competitions. China wants so badly to show the world that they're the best, but they're coming off as being shiesters. I still like volleyball. | ||

Play it down when rating goes down. 17. In case of an emergency involving foreign tourists, please follow the official line. If there's no official line, stay away from it. 18. Re possible subway accidents in the capital, please follow the official line. 19. Be positive on security measures. 20. Be very careful with stock market coverage during the Games. 21.Properly handle coverage of the Chinese sports delegation: A.don't criticise the selection process B.don't overhype gold medals; don't issue predictions on gold medal numbers; don't make fuss about cash rewards for athletes. C.don't make a fuss about isolated misconducts by athletes. D.enforce the publicity of our anti-doping measures. E. put emphasis on government efforts to secure the retirement life of atheletes. F. keep a cool head on the Chinese performance. Be prepared for possible fluctations in the medal race. G. refrain from publishing opinion pieces at odds with the official propangada line of the Chinese delegation. | ||
