Why? Because he wants to play Football and the Green Bay management is too concerned with starting the "McCarthy,Thompson, Rodgers Era"?
10 years from now you'll remember Favre, but you'll say "WHO?" when some one mentions those 3 turds. Green Bay is going from a quarterback
that never missed a game to one that has played in 3 games for a small amount of time and left 2 hurt! I believe the Packers are headed right back to the bottom for another 20 years. The way THEY handled it, I believe they deserve it! HE MADE OTHER PLAYERS PRO BOWLERS! No longer.

OK - at the risk of BLASPHEMY (most of Mom's family have Packers stock certs framed on their walls) - what's his name Farrv said he quit, he quit, Green Bay said OK and moved on... and Far-v said "nevermind, I changed my mind."

Green Bay then says, "hey, YOU LEFT ME MAN!"

Pharv then says "Yeah, I know but I didn't mean it."

Green Bay then says - "Hey but, YOU LEFT ME MAN. We got on with OUR lives."

I went through this with my first ex-wife. She wasn't allowed back either.

What am I missing?

Maybe I just don't follow football but if Farff is going to be remembered for anything, it'll be his confusion about the similar meanings of GOODBYE and I QUIT

Maybe now 95% of Sportscenter won't be about Favre. I need to have my buddy put on 24hr watch, he's a huge Packer/Favre fan. He hates the Jets...this could be tragic for him.

I really don't think they are going down the tubes. The Team is the youngest and most talented team since the mid 90's. I can see both sides end of the story. Nobody was going to walk away from this drama without dirt on their face's. My one take is though if.......... the Packers don't go to the playoffs. Ted Thompsons job will go on the chopping block.

What's the difference? This is New York where obtaining athletes in their umm... twilight years is as much tradition as gridlocked traffic. Favre will get injured 1 week into season and sit out 8 weeks with salary, come back , play mediocre football and get a standing ovation when he plays his last game after announcing his re-retirement at the end of the season.

"What am I missing?"

The reason why he "decided" to retire in the first place? The thought here he was pressured by Thompson and McCarthy back then. A week after the playoffs they were on him about it.

Another thought is this. If Ron Wolf was still GM, would Favre be a Packer yet? Zero Doubt. As Rocket said...it's all about the two Bozos making a name for themselves.

Thing is, there will be life without Favre here. I got a feeling that it's going to be a toss back to the 80's for a while.

Good riddance. He WAS great, but he should have stood behind his commitment to retire. I'm all for Aaron Rodgers now. Kind of excited to see how he's going to do. GO PACK!!!!

Maybe the local news can report on something other than Brett Favre now that he'll be gone. It was getting pretty bad up here with all that drama the last few weeks.

"Shows some good potential."

Obviously you weren't watching the innersquad scrimmage Sunday. The only potential he's shown has been to get hurt.

Yeah, I saw the "Family Night" scrimmage. It really didn't look like he was playing to hard either. Most will say, you look at his past and he's been hurt here and there and that he's not reliable. Look at how long ago that was. It's nice to get some new blood in that position. He has showed some skill here and there the couple times he filled in for Favre in past games. Hopefully Rodgers will be able to think a little more clearly now with some of this drama leaving.

"just not around these parts anytime soon."

Huh? Listen to Sportstalk 1250 and WTMJ in Milwaukee. People are calling for heads, and it ain't Favre's.

There's talk of Thompson needing extra security and pushing fans further back at practices for fear or reprisal.

Do I think GB is a better team with Favre? yes, but he's in the twilight of a great career. I just don't think Rodgers is the answer. I'd rather have seen the new kid from Lousiville at #1. Then we would be starting fresh.

Brett left because he was forced out, IMHO.
Thompson and McCarthy believe it's their time to start "their Era" like the Wolf, Holmgren, Favre era.
Guess what. IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!
What GM and Coach would turn down the return of a QB that took them to the verge of the SuperBowl ,(losing to the eventual winners I might add) and coming off a Pro Bowl season?
Two morons that want to TRY to get their names in the books.
Rodgers is unproven and prone to injury. That is a FACT!
Farve has a history that will not be matched and hasn't missed a start in 16 YEARS!!!
Sounds like management is more concerned about themselves than the progression of the team.
Don't forget, too, that Rodgers was Thompson's own personal pick in the draft.
I'll always like the Packers. But to tell you the truth, if Green Bay and the Jets ever meet, I hope the Jet's kick their asses.I'm really surprised at how some of the Packer fans have so quickly forgotten what Farve has done for "their team".
Welcome back to the Forrest Greg, Lynn Dicky years. You all deserve it!!

Its a quoted fact that McCarthy told Favre last week that "the packers are a better team with you on it"...how the hell do you explain that comment to your new #1 QB and the guys in the locker room?

Thompson and McCarthy are worms. This season is gonna be interesting.

Remember "ALL MY PACKERS" on the radio??

Yeah, I've heard of the extra security thing with Thompson. With me working for the Sheriff's Dept, and GBPD and the Sheriff's Dept being primary security during the games, there have been talks about this internally for months.

The fans can blame Thompson all they want, but ultimately, it's Favres fault. He has been pulling the retirement card for the past 4 seasons. When he made the decision to retire, he should have been a man about it and kept his commitment to retire. The Packers as a team were ready for it, and they moved on. I think they did the right thing.

There's been to much work put into Rodgers and grooming the offensive line for his strengths and weaknesses. For Favre to think he can come in and take the helm again just like that, so much work from training camp would have gone wasted and the team wouldn't have been as well prepared.

Lies have been told on both sides. I don't think Favre can be trusted just as much as Thompson anymore.

"he should have been a man about it and kept his commitment to retire."

So does that mean when a road cop retires he shouldn't come back as a bailiff?

Happens all the time. Some folks like to work.

The Packers and Jet's aren't scheduled to play each other. Sounds like a team hiding from some one they're afraid to face.
You're right. It's a business. Packer management needs to go back to business school.

If a road cop comes back as a bailiff and is within the same department, he didn't retire. He took a different position within the department.

People in the Sheriff's Dept do it all the time. They work on the road a few years, then in the jail, and then in the courts. They could do something different each year if there was an opening for the position.

If a cop plays his card right, he can retire at 51. In the military, 47. There is nothing wrong with wanting to work. I know I wouldn't be able to sit on my ass all day by that age. I have friends who have retired as cops and come back as Chiefs of Police... for different departments. I don't see anything wrong with going to work somewhere else, but when you try to come back and say you want to come out of retirement after the position is filled, that can not be expected or tolerated. It was in the best interest for the Packers organization to trade him.

I agree, it would be nice to see the Packers and Jets go head to head. Maybe next season? Who knows, they might be dealing with the same ordeal we had to this offseason. Better them than us! I'll still be rooting for the Pack.

Enough with this crap, I'm going out to ride. Nice and sunny, 67 degrees out.

I read that if the Jets trade him to the Vikings (and it was only the Vikings mentioned) they'd sacrifice 3 #1 draft picks.

Favre wasn't good enough for the Packers, but he's too good to play against them? Kinda odd I think.
