Yep. We got alot of sicko's up here in Canada. The report I read on MyTelus this morning about the incident claimed the killer displayed his victims head to the other passengers outside. Makes Jack Nicholson's "Shining" seem tame.... | ||

People like that need to skip jail and go straight to the gallows. If he is executed i will be surprised... O wait you can commit a sick crime like this in Canada because their is no death penalty! They will have to instill a national knife ban immediately. I recall sitting at a bus stop and having a guy tell me how he liked robbing old white women and why, and how he could pick out which ones had money and determine which women wouldn't put up a fight.  | ||

What a friggin wack-job. Man I feel sorry for that victim, and the other folks on the bus. One thing I am having a bit of trouble with is, out of the 37 people on that bus, none of them attempted to stop this guy???? I wasn't there, so I have no idea of the exact situation... but there were 37 people on that bus, and this dude was left alone with his victim as he sawed the guys head off with a butcher knife... I am at a loss. | ||

You ask why no one tried to stop this guy? Well, we live in a polite society and no one wanted to interfere in the mans work? The other folks became paralyzed with disbelief as the murderous scene played out? Firebolt32, don't forget, the public transportation that you will not ride on would also include the airlines and railroads. | ||

One thing I am having a bit of trouble with is, out of the 37 people on that bus, none of them attempted to stop this guy???? I was thinking the same thing as I was reading it. The only thing I seem to remember was maybe the victim yelled out to get off the bus or something? Maybe it was the guy sitting near him. But I can't tell you how many times I've been on a Greyhound bus (I actually started using them right after a passanger walked up beghind a driver and slit his throat) or airplane, and consciencly thought about if I would apprach a passanger with a knife. Each time I think I would. People are generally sheep - if one person had jumped on to help, every other guy over 150lbs would have been there with him. BUT - as you said, none of us were there, so none of us can really judge. Maybe the guy had done enough damage in the first couple stabs that just getting off the bus was in the best interest of everyone. Godspeed to the folks on the bus and to the victim. The killer can go to hell for all I care. Not everyone can be "fixed" with a little therapy. | ||

It will be interesting to see what plays out in this.. Did they somehow know eachother... Did the victim say something that set the perp off... Had the perp been tailing the victim for some past transgression, and finally happened upon him... Or was it just some random nutjob having a meltdown and deciding to kill the next person that sat next to him on a bus. We may never know. | ||

Almost all cultures engage in this practice, and always have. I've seen stacks of muslim heads that were hacked off by Christians, they still smelled horrible after a few days } | ||

O wait you can commit a sick crime like this in Canada because their is no death penalty! I seriously doubt that the death penalty would have stopped him. I don't think someone like that would stop and think "I really shouldn't cut this guys head off, I might get a lethal injection... No wait the worst that will happen is that I'll sit in jail for the rest of my life.... Ok, I'm gonna do it." The only good the death penalty would do in this situation is satisfy the need for retribution for the victims survivors and society as a whole. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, just that it wouldn't have prevented the crime. | ||

From what I read, the killer was on the bus and sitting towards the front at first, got off at a stop for a smoke, and he got back on, he sat in a different seat at the rear of the bus, next to the victim. By all accounts, the victim was asleep, leaning against the window listening to his headphones. I suppose there could have been a past transgression, but nothing of the sort was mentioned in the article. | ||

Machete's are still the weapon of choice in my neighbor hood. A few weeks ago a kid got his head split like a watermelon. His friends found one of the guys that did it and he met his end too. Just a little slower than his victim. | ||

I doubt someone with a gun could have stopped what happened. Action happens faster than reaction. I bet the kid would have been dead long before someone saw what was happening, decided to pull his/her weapon, took aim, fired and killed the person. Knives are pretty brutal when used as a weapon. Especially when the person is that close. I bet the kid was dead long before the beheading. | ||

FYI - a followup article states that after the beheading, the guy continued to butcher and "consume" parts of the body. |
