Next Saturday, August 2, my son and I are going to ride up to Hot August Nights in Reno. Any other Bad Weber's planning to be there next weekend? Also I was wondering if any locals could tell me a good place to camp out Saturday night. It doesn't even need to be an official campground, just an out of the way place we can roll out a couple of sleeping bags and spend the night. Maybe down by the Truckee river or something. | ||

i can't help you much, but i remember going to Hot August Nights with my dad, and it was friggin' awesome! we went in 2000, 01, and 02. mom kinda spoiled it when she tagged along, but it was still cool to be there. have fun, take lots of pics, and eat at the casinos....it's cheap IF you can avoid the gambling. | ||

Well we found a place to camp along the Truckee river just inside California. It wasn't much of a campsite, just a flat spot on the side of a dirt road that ran along the river, but at 11:30 at night it seemed good enough. Besides, enough beer can make any place seem comfortable. Sunday morning we stopped and had breakfast in Boomtown on the way into Reno. We spotted an XB12S amongst the Harley's in the motorcycle parking area. It had some stickers from Travis AFB. Belong to anyone here? We had a great time and saw lots of cool cars. Just wish we had more time, but my son had a company picnic to attend Sunday evening. |
