Kim

Is Joe up for a visit Saturday??

If we get enough interest after riding from HD Ft Wash to Old Glory we can continue north on the Parkway to pay Joe a visit.

I'm in, anybody else?

Well guys and gals I called him when I saw your posts about a possible Saturday visit and he's up for visitors. If you can give me an idea of how many may come by? I'd like to give the hospital a heads up and see if I can coordinate his therapy schedule around the visit. Just keep me posted.

Kim

I bet he would love a DVD of "Long Way Down", or a copy of the Speed TV episode of "Trippin' on Two Wheels" with the Ulys to Quebec. I can make a copy of the Uly episode and mail it if you tell me where. Anyone have a copy of LWD?

Just tryin' to keep my butt from fallin' asleep, LOL. Managed to snag some wifi for a minute...

Thank you all for the good thoughts. I still don't know (and probably never will) what actually happened, but I managed to bust up both my legs pretty good (I'll be fun at airports with my new bolts) in addition to tearing up my R collarbone/rotator cuff. It's an adventure every day at this point, but I can finally dangle both legs instead of keeping one propped up, and they want me to try standing up next week. I think they're crazy to expect it this soon, but hey - they've done this before, I haven't.

Well, again:

THANK YOU ALL. Reading your thoughts and well wishes above is incredible. Frank, please tell Lynn hi for me and thanks to both of you. Everyone else - it's super cool to see what BWB is really made of. Gear up, and ride safe everyone!

Link to pics of our visit to "Ratbuell".

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=16843&l=6265 9&id=724210752

Thanks to: Jose, Paul, Brian, Ramon, Lars, and Tony for taking the time to visit Joe!

From the pics and the conversation, I think our visit lifted his spirits!

Please keep praying for Joe and Kim. Please ask for a speedy recovery and all of the details to be sorted out for his return to their house.

Some construction will most likely be needed and picking out the right type of medical gear to help Joe regain his ability to be mobile again.

Personally, I'm praising God for protecting Joe and for not suffering any head nor spinal injuries!

(I'll be fun at airports with my new bolts)

Joe

You might be surprised by when and where you'll set off metal detectors. I've been living some medical hardware for 21 years, using air travel for most of those years and been entertained over the response when they figure it out that something is not natural Some of our larger airports I won't even register an alarm thru the detector and at some of our more remote airports it's like hitting trip 7s at the vegas slots

There are some real Barney Fifes working the security at the airport gates.

Mike

Good to hear you are improving. The mental part is the toughest, try to remember that it well get better.

Don't worry about the airport if you got titanium, it won't set off the machine.

WOW.

I just re-read this thread. Now that some time has passed, I'm getting around nearly-normally (albeit always a little stiff), I'm clear-headed (no more narcotics for me, thanks...that s**t's for the birds and ibuprofen is working just fine, thanks), functioning independently, driving (putting miles on my Wrangler as much as I can, it's a stick and more of a workout), and RIDING (yay!!), I wanted to post in this thread and say thank you to everyone.

I know I've been active in other sections of the board lately, and I'll continue that, but to look at a thread about my injury and it having three archived sections...man. What did I do to get everyone's attention? I just wanted to put one final, positive post in here - closure, if you will.

I'm a member of lots of other boards online - stuff for my Wrangler, for our LX-platform Magnum R/T, our diesel ram, our deuce-and-a-half, and my Shelby Dodges - and there is NO other board that has a group of people like this. I didn't even get as much attention on the Shelby boards, and a lot of my college buddies are on there!

Thank you again, to everyone. Believe it or not, all the good thoughts and prayers must have made a difference. They're talking about discharging me from physical therapy at the end of this month, my "bad" arm is within ten degrees' range of my "good" one and getting closer every day, and literally the only thing I haven't been able to do yet is run (my feet are still a little dumb when it comes to the quick stuff). But considering I got to spend most of August learning to walk again and here it is, only three months' later....all the docs (and the PT's) are flat out amazed at my progress - and I owe lots of it to you folks.

So..one last time: Thank you all. Gear up, ride safe, and keep rackin' up the miles. I know I will!
