Well here we go. I may have a first year 1973 Kawasaki Z1 900. It needs some tender love and care. Its my Brother's and he has owned it since brand new. It has about 26,000 miles on it. In 78 he had a 1050 big bore kit put in it with cams, open filters, and a Kerker pipe. He still has the original jugs pistons, cams, airbox and pipes. Those may have half of its 26,0000 miles. I plan on hauling it home to my place and putting it back to stock configuration. It may go up for sale afterwards. Its going to have a complete going over. My Brother has not ridden it since 1986. Its been garage kept but thats it. My question is does anyone have some good info as for original parts or even a forum. The bike still will run just need to learn more about the bike then I do already. Can't wait to ride it. LOL Last time I was on it I think I was 7 or 8 and could barely hang on.....the thing was fast in its day.

Check the vintage racing orgs - AHRMA especially. Almost every Club has a few vintage classes. http://www.ahrma.org/ There's a group of links to regional boards and groups at the bottom.

I'm betting there are a dozen Z1 groups on Yahoo.

Sunny gets most of her V-4 500cc Interceptor tips from a few different user groups.

OH MAN!!
I have one of those too. Sounds very similar, except mine hasn't run in a long long time. I don't have many of the stock parts either. I see NOS parts on ebay fairly often, and have a few links to parts places, amazed there's stuff left.

Patiently waiting.............

It's a sad sad thing.

even after i got back into riding after many years away (almost 30) my '67 triumph still languished in the back of my garage .

amazed that i can get parts for it faster than i can for my modern bikes . my modern bikes i have to go through a dealer and hope they order it . my '67 i can just click , click and they're at my door that week .

i know it's different because there's such a following for ole brit bikes .

sold my old honda sabre v4 , things had really died as far as forums and sources .

doubt things for the ole jap bikes will be the same . too bad . there were some great one's .

time will tell . bads1 save it ! ride it pass it on . hate to see old bikes wither and rust away .

Z1 with a Kerker... haven't heard one of those in a while... but I'd know it in an instant! Almost bought one 'til I heard an H2 750 with a set of Denco expansion chambers. My first NEW bike. Thanks for prompting me, I really should get my H2 back together.

H2... Ahhhhh... sweeet blue smoke.

I still hang out with Dave Crussel every time he comes out to Willow Springs with AHRMA to race his H2R.

Might still get one in my garage. My other post-puberty fantasy cafe bike. H2 engine in H2R chassis.

Thanks guys. I'll be looking at the sight. The bike isn't a basket case. It just sat and basically forgotten about. It needs for cosmetics a front fender. It has a small ding in it that happened when a rake came down and hit that and the tank. The tank has a small ding that can be fixed. And I have the paint connection covered as well as the paint code. I just may leave the tank alone though because its not bad. Other then that it needs to go back to stock form with the parts i have and just a bunch of cleaning. I'll post pics when I get it. This is what the bike looks like stock in 73.
