It would be nice if the 1125R/CR had their own unique tails sections.

compared to the Duke? better.
compared to the speed triple? way better.
compared to the z1000? maybe not the older ones, but yep better
compared to the b-king? no question.
v-max doesn't have anything(other than HP) on it either.
nice bike...I do think it would look better with an "s" seat on it though.

I have seen the B-King in person, and thought right away, Transformer. Like the Buell better. It doesnt scream toy to me. Looks brutish and mean, just like a hooligan should look. Now those pods..............ugh. Find a way to do away with them.

I think I like the CR, I'll know when I go and sit on one in person. I think the CR fairing works well with the pods. I hate the pods on the 1125R with the goofy alien head fairing. With the CR fairing, the pods look muscular.

I like the red bike with the black pods - that looks the best to me...

I can't believe I am going to say this, but...

"I didn't think they could make the 1125 anymore hideous, I was wrong"

HD needs to hurry up with the MV purchase. Buell really needs those designers.

First glance... Mmm, I was hoping for a naked 1125, maybe they'll do something with the radiators...

2 hours later... Hmmm, nice details, I like the screen, and it certainly doesn't look like anything else around... but Cafe Racer?

5 hours later... After looking through the website and the gallery photo's, particularly pics with rider on board, I *really* like it. I think realising it has Ace-style dropbars was the clincher A few of my bikes have had those in the past. I wanted a naked 1125, and Buell delivered. Not exactly what I was expecting, but very cool, and different (in every sense ; ) ).

Will I buy one? I don't know, but I'd really like to check one out and take one for a ride. I'm hoping Buell in Australia organises something like Inside Pass so I can ride 1125CR, 1125R and XB12SS : ) The 1125R is growing on me finally and seeing it in white looks very tasty too.

cheers,
chili

Sorry, but that is one ugly bike. It's the radiators. They just look huge and are an eye soar. Until Buell figures that out, there will be no 1125 in my garage.

The CR is a great idea, now if we could get rid of those mirrors, get a V-Rod style headlight assy w/turn signals mounted to the side like a traditional bike. I don't know how the same factory that put out the early tubers is putting these bikes out and some how thinks that those radiator pods look good, they are hideously large, gianormous if you will. When I first read this morning that Buell came out with the CR I was excited and started considering really getting rid of the S1 and then the Buell site came up and what a let down when I saw the pics, I actually threw up a little in my mouth.

Look at this, a water cooled bike with that stripped down street fighter/cafe racer look. Some how this bike has a radiator and doesn't have a set of hard bags mounted by the motor to house the radiators. How did they do it.... they mounted it in the traditional position.
radiator way it should be

I sure know that when I'm shopping for a "traditional" bike, Buell is the first place I go.

Ok, I went back in and looked at the CR mini-site again. I spent lots of time in the gallery with the rider on the bike.

It is really starting to grow on me. Without the rider, the pods look huge. With the rider, they aren't that big. The tail section looks better with the rider on board as well.

I really like this shot:

Here it is with the rider on it:

If the rider in this picture is like the normal "fidgets" they have riding the bikes in these photo sessions, a galoot like me is going to dwarf this thing.

This is on my short list of new bikes.

I officially like it.

I sure know that when I'm shopping for a "traditional" bike, Buell is the first place I go.

Buell has been on the forefront of a few things like the underslung exhaust. However, 7 years ago the tube frame models where cool looking bikes that were underpowered.

Now we have underpowered bikes that look wierd. (I classify it as underpowered when compared to any literbike on the market with a comparable price). If you are going to make a bike about the rider, then make it something the rider likes to look at also.

Bikes have gone to being purpose built. Hyabusa for top speed (even though a ZX-10 is faster), liter bikes as track weapons, Dual purpose bikes as barely legal street bikes designed to spend time off road. However all the Buells try to do many things kinda good, but not great at any of them.

So different in every sense = average at everything, yet best at nothing???

I love the look of the new bike, but lets be serious here. Nobody really knows what it looks like yet. The 1125 looked different in person than it did in pictures, so we know the same can be said of the CR.

My only complaint is with the low bars. If I am going to buy a "standard" I don't want to have to reach for those low bars. That is one reason I loved sitting on the B-King. The king looks a little funky, but it sits so dang well. I hope the real 1125CR bars aren't as low as they look.

At least they went with real clubmans so a real handlebar could be put on there. Let's just hope they included some slack in the cable/brake lines for the conversion.

Koz - Forefront or not, Buells have always been unique in one way or another - looks, engineering, what have you.

Also, a 4cyl literbike and twin literbike can't be grouped together - they're different enough.

Underpowered? Try riding one. I haven't yet, but if my XB12 isn't underpowered, then the 1125 can't be.

Buell 1125 - 146hp
Ducati - 160hp
Aprillia - 139hp
SV1000 - 116hp

I don't think I need to go any further with this.

Jandj - the CR isn't claimed to be any kind of standard by Buell. The bars are the same height and little further forward compared to the R, so it's a slightly more aggressive position.

The factory "high-bar" for the CR requires the use of longer cables and wires, so there isn't enough slack there, unless you can creatively reroute them somehow.

So what does it look like under those scoops? Is there just a little radiator in there that you could black out? I have yet to see what it looks like under the scoops. I would think you could maybe clean it up by taking them off and making a few modifications that is unless the scoops are needed to direct air to the radiators.

The pods direct air and they also serve as sliders much like frame pucks do on the XB series.

They may be different bikes, but they buyer is still the same guy. So I think it is fair to compare price vs. what you get. All I am saying is the 1125 falls short in quality and
performance for that price range.

If Mr. Buell would have taken some time with this project and really looked at what a majority of us wanted, he could have seen that Buell may not have had to stray too far from the 1125 and the XB.

If this would have been what was intro'd yesterday, I'd have bought one yesterday.......hell, I could have lived with the Bk jr. look if it had a more upright riding position and a non-"R" tail.

About the ducati monster above. I have owned a s4rs. Great bike, once you set up the suspension. The gas range sucks though, 90 miles to a tank. It is very fast with the full ducati performance system. (2600$ extra) But that radiator in the pic above costs about 2500$ to replace! Even with the sliders I had on mine I have no doubt the rad would be toast in a hard lowside. Also rocks can get thrown right through the rad and oil cooler. There is a fix but once again costs more money for screens. If the cr handles anything like my 1125r, which no doubt it will. The cr would run circles around the s4rs. The pods can take a hit also and are not expensive to replace.(believe me I know) Dont get me wrong I'm not bashing the duc. I love ducati but they are dam expensive for what you get compared to the Buell. I like the styling of the cr alot! To me it looks american like s muscle car. I even like the pods. Looks like air intakes off a fighter plane. I would like to see a photo shop of a flying tigers paint job on the cr. Those pods would look pretty mean with the teeth painted on them. Tail of the bike painted like the stars and stripes.

The front of the cr just looks like it wants to kill you, dosent it? hahaha

Good job buell I like it.

If you guys really like the Italian syle go out and get one!

BCS,

Is the two tone red/yellow rear spring part of the package? : D

I don't think you need to replace the front faring at all. Look at it this way, they finally fixed the key position of the S with the CR.

No they aren't - the buyer of a twin is looking for those things that a twin can offer than an IL4 can't. The guy who's in the market for things like the 1125R, Tuono, 1098, etc, is likley not interested in a GSX-R or CBR-R.

Why would anyone buy a twin when an IL-4 is better?

Shouldn't all bikes be IL-4's.

Come to think of it, why would anyone pay more than $10,000 for any bike.

Its a new adjustable spring...low or standard height. Erik brought this up at the last meeting. You were out at Ruth's Chris having a fillet I believe.

I officially like it as well. Just having fun with the colors and cosmetics.

+1 on the gear ratio and hopefully the fueling improvements. A wider rear rim would be cool on this one as well.

I also like the white and blue 1125R, but I will hold out until it is the 1125RR (fully faired).
