In the past six months, I have...
Bought a house.
Helped rescue three kittens from an abandoned car.
Got married (she KNEW that I love carbon fiber and bought me a tungsten carbide/carbon fiber ring).
Rescued a deaf boxer...

My aunt finally got her weaned and let us take her home Saturday night. Since my aunt was planning on having her euthanised, I wasn't expecting so much... She had the puppy's favorite blanket, all her required shots up to date, Eukanuba puppy food, the first treatment of Advantix, etc all in a basket waiting for us.

We named her Sloan. Jackie is Irish and wanted an Irish name for the puppy. I tried to go with a German name since the pup is a German breed, but I lost... We found a pink leather spiked collar, it's a little big, but badass.

She 8 weeks old at this point. We feel that she 'may' be deaf, but my aunt said that if she was, it would be her first. It's difficult to tell because you can yell real loud and she won't respond... but neither will my stepson, so it's not exactly scientific...

She won't sit still long enough for a decent picture, but she has the bluest eyes I have seen. I worry that she may be mistaken for a Pit Bull which are illegal to own in this town, so we're going to keep her paperwork in a handy place

Spike collar!

All she wants to do is be with people. She's pretty well housebroken and know's the sign Language to use the potty.

congrats on the wedding. they say a man is not complete until he's married.....and then he's FINISHED!!!

get rid of the Eukanuba. for that kind of cash, you should be feeding them Bil-Jac. a friend of mine turned us on to it, and i won't feed a dog anything else. Bil-Jac is different than most dog foods, and for the same reason a Buell is different from most motorcycles...it works better.

good luck with the new family members

OMG is she cute! I love Boxers. I've got a Boxer mutt that's black, with white on the chest and paws. He's adorably cute, but tons of energy. I have to run him regularly.

Yeah, don't rule on the hearing just yet. I remember for a while my puppy didn't listen either. See if something like a vacuum cleaner freaks them out. Most puppies start barking at a vacuum. You get the idea.

Enjoy. They're a riot.

As a side note, I've never heard of a town making certain breeds illegal. That's just stupid.

So is the kennel for the kid or the dog? The pup is beautiful. I'm really glad it worked out. I can promise you, that dog being deaf will not be an issue. I have a choc. lab that had lung problems as a pup and my brother has a black lab that is blind in one eye. Other than Manny (black lab) walking with a cocked head, the two "bubble boys" are very healthy.

+1 on Bil-Jac

Nutro is a good food as well- I had to look for a specific preservative that can be dangerous to Basenjis- it is absent in both of these brands.

Time to get a Chuckit!

I've got a bag of Nutro from the pet store. It's just that the puppy was weaned on Euk, so I figured that it would be best to keep her on it until she settled into 'the family'.

The kennel is for whomever needs it at the time...

I've read about collars that buzz (not shock) to get the dog's attention so you can sign to it. I plan on making one soon, so we can train her young.

She's very eager to please and always looks up, I don't think she'll be an issue.

I told my aunt that I'd find homes for the next few white boxers... Anyone interested in a free pure bred boxer?

Bil-jac seem's to be a well.... ok food. Has alot of waste in it. Meaning Corn is in the first 5 ingredients. Corn is a filler. This is what I feed my monsters.

Thumper - love the pics of the newest member of your family. Over July 4th, we also rescued a deaf Old English Sheepdog with blue eyes. This is our 2nd deaf dog, so if you have any questions or need ideas about training/hand signals, give us a call. We're in the BRAN.

Also check out the following website for deaf dogs: http://www.deafdogs.org/

CORN

NO GOOD!!! Nutro is good but we have to be picky also, as two of ours is food sensitive.

Absolutley beautiful pup!! My Pit looked exactly like that at the age, I can see how they would be confused. Yea be careful with your town ordinance and be ready to show them papers!

i can only speak to the results...

Murci stands a solid four inches taller than any of her litter-mates, and out-weighs the stud by 10 or 15 lbs, at least. not an ounce of fat on her, and she's hyper like 7 year old after two mountain dews and a six-pack of ho-hos

Lili was rescued from ohio, and she was sooooo sick, the vet couldn't believe she was GAINING weight...and she was the only dog from the litter to survive.

once you go Bil-Jac, you'll never go back

That has nothing to do with food. She has this because of genetics. Food will not do that. My dogs are of the Giant breed. I really learned alot about good foods because these dogs put on so much weight so fast at a young age that their bones don't mature as fast as they grow. To much protein and it can actually harm the bone structure as they mature. To much Filler's ( corn ) and they aren't getting enough from the food. If you'll notice that Canidae it isn't listed. There are other good foods on the market like canidae but my dogs seem to do well on it.
