Has anybody had any experience grafting late model GSXR upside down forks to an M2 frame? I have a 99 M2 with the conventional front end. Been looking for an X1 front end with no luck. GSXR front ends are everywhere and was wondering if anyone had tried hanging GSXR trees on an M2 frame?
The other option is to buy the X1 trees and bolt the GSXR forks in if they fit. From what I understand they are supposed to be the same Showa forks with different material internals. The GSXR forks are lighter and the 00-03 are even lighter than the earlier ones.

Let me know if anybody has any ideas or options.

I put the 0.95 springs in my conventionals with thicker oil which fixed the compression damping and the rebound damping (or lack of) is really bad now......

Thanks

Ducatie SBK's, Traxxion Dynamic, Lindeman, RaceTech...

What in the world are you doing with your M2 that you need so much more forking?

I used to RR a GSXR and old habits die hard. I like a front end that I have confidence in. The stock M2 FE was very underwhelming in the confidence department. It's a little better now with the springs and 20W oil, however the lack of rebound damping is terrible. Sure it works fine going back and forth to work. Running the Chera-Hola Parkway and Deal's Gap this summer left pucker marks on my seat. Luckily it didn't leave any other marks......

I'm looking for forks that I can tune with external adjustment for rebound and compression damping. I believe the GSXR 750 Showa forks are better quality than the X1 forks procured by Buell from Showa. Traxxion would be more than happy to take my $500+ and revalve my conventionals to their specs. And they probably would work just fine, however they would still be conventional and lack external adjustment.

I know there has to be other people looking for similar handling performance who have investigated or have done what I am proposing here.

Lets assume that the Suzuki triple clamps would fit the M2 frame, or could be easily adapted. What other parts would have to be swapped? The front fender is a given, but what about the wheel, brake rotor(s), and calipers? Would you still want to install new springs and oil?
