Court- If you need someone to ride it back for you, let me know- I can have it to you in Queens in roughly 30 hours upon arrival at Denver international.
I love the F650, myself, and was proud to have taken p[art in much NA R&D of the line.
When I took a service position in california, i convinced the shop's owner to order a half-dozen to use as service loaners, and started a trend...Santa Cruz BMW saw our success with this initiative, and did the same thing, followed by other west coast dealers, soon after.

BMWNA is run by the ultimate Scott Adams PHBs, I think. BMWAG comes out with some pretty damned exciting new models, and BMWNA shuts down dealer after dealer making it harder and harder to get parts and service. And thanks to BMW's cutting edge technology, you can't just take them in to the local independent bike shop for service because the odds are they don't have the megabuck diagnostic tools they'd need to do the job properly (they're also beyond the means of most home mechanics too).

I've never been a big fan of Harley, but there are parts of this country you can't throw a rock without hitting a dealer or an independent shop well versed in working on them. For someone who likes traveling by motorcycle, that is often far more important than having the trickest, fastest, most luxurious or most comfortable bike on the road. Being able to get it repaired and QUICKLY back on the road is probably the most important thing in my mind.

BMW has sadly slipped way down in my list of desirable motorcycles for that reason. I bought the Buell because I (mistakenly, it seems) thought that if I ever had a problem, I could always go to one of the aforementioned Harley shops for service. I still love my bike, but I have serious reservations taking long trips with it, especially since it's already died once on me and required a tow. Fortunately, it happened near home and not out in the boonies somewhere.

Nail on head re: NA v AG.
When I was last with NA, they were shutting down dealers for small buildings and for carrying other lines.
they were really trying, still, to create the kraut nirvana of car/mc joint dealerships, creating horrific failures in major cities...san francisco was our nearest competition when i was with a shop, and BMW's new world order really increased our own customer base as customers fled the new car/mc dealership stupidity like rats from a sinking U-boat.
They simply tried to use a Eurpoean sales concept here in America, which was/is a tremendous mistake.
I occasionally dealt with the genius responsible for this sales holocaust, a son of the fatherland named Harald Hofmarksrichter...
have complaints about 21st century BMW issues in North America? harald's your boy.

There are two routes to work for me. One involves the highway and is roughly 15 miles each way. The other involves surface streets and is less than 10 miles... easily "do-able" by bicycle.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't bicycle through those neighborhoods without full Kevlar body armor and an automatic rifle...

Grrrrrrr. . . . I'd put her in her place but don't want to loose the use of her bike.

That isn't what you would loose the use of.

I'm calling today to have my Buell shipped from Colorado

OMG, Court is shipping a bike. :-o What is the world coming to. I'll have you know my first motorcycle adventure was freezing my a$$ off (it was 22 degrees) riding a Cyclone through the woods of PA because you told the story about riding the bike to the museum.

You know, you could take Friday off, and be home by Sunday.

Court,

Hey we're going to BUB's. I'll have an empty space on the trailer coming back. My rig will be at Aaron's the two weeks we're riding the deserts and canyons. Lemme know, you got my number.

Absolutely no Jake in BT. Some Wannabe BH's floating about -- also, some squared away troopers -- but if you were tabbed they went out of their way attempting to make you miserable in front of the REMFs.

I love me some Barry Sadler too : ) That song is on my IPOD,,,,,right behind 1SG Rap (a real song btw)

No Jake within thousands of kilometres of Bad Tolz, unless someone wants to call those harmless little grass vipers such. Tolz was a little slice of home with but with prettier peaks.
... lemme see if i have any cool shots from back then....
